What is League of Legends (Make a pitch)

Hey all,

Let me clarify first by saying I have started playing this game. I never knew much about it aside from knowing a lot of our members played it.

When I saw that it was getting it's own acknowledgment as part of a division I thought to myself, "Spitfire'd, it's time you find out what this game is and what it's about."

So I set myself a searchin' all over our forums and couldn't find anything describing what the game is like. Granted I am probably a horrible searcher, but still. Once I figured it out (youtube, the game's actual website, etc.) I downloaded it and it is looking like something I will enjoy.

What I am wondering is how would you describe this game? If there's anyone out there like me (and there has to be at least one) they are coming to the LoL Discussion page hoping to find a description of what this game is and how you play it.

So, in your own words, what is this game? How would you describe it? Imagine you are pitching it to someone who has never heard about it.

It is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena), the genre that DotA spawned. It is a 5v5 where each player picks a unique champion with four special abilities. Your objective is to destroy the enemy towers and eventually their base. You level up to 18 within the span of each game to level up specific abilities and buy items with gold you get from killing minions, enemy players, and towers. Games tend to last anywhere from 25 minutes to 50 minutes, it is uncommon that they will last longer than that. That is the basic gist of the game.

I have to disagree. Bored?
The possibility to play against another team of 5 unique champions each game and a company that creates 1 new champion each week and constantly balances the heroes. In total I think about 60 unique heroes without counting the items that edit your heroes runes and spell. Man the options!!!!!

Sorry, not boring. I love it, because they always find a way to entertain you and yet make it professional and casual and free. I don't see how you can consider it boring, especially soon they will be making replay mode, spectating and voice chat for solo ranked games and normal games.

Trust me, play a lot, have more loses than wins and try to surpass you're own score. I know I did. Their is where the real fun starts :thumbup:
