A long time ago I played a game called Geneforge, while not the fanciest thing it has a solid story different endings depending on what you did. It was by far one of my favorite games.
Then the creator(just one from my understanding) Came out with Avernum also a lot of fun, but different type of game.
Just Rediscovered the creator as he just released Avernum Six.
I find it hard to find an RPG I really like. Fallout 3 didn't do it for me, My favorites have been
Arcanum
Fallout 2
Planescape Torment
Geneforge
Avernum
Kotor(sorta)
Baldurs Gate
and i'm sure there is some more. Just thought anyone like myself who was jonesing for a decent classic RPG might enjoy it, they give a huge free trial.
Only complaint is that there isn't as much roleplaying choices in Avernum as i'd like, and it is a bit combat focused by the stories and variety of type of quest are good.
