I had a half baked idea, help me fully bake it.

Maybe there is something like this already.

Everyone here has a couple classes that they are good at, and then classes they absolutely suck at.

What if there was a way to enroll yourself in a mentor program where you list classes your good at and willing to give tips and advice help train so people become more diversified.

In the same thread could be a list of good youtube videos that are good guides that other people find helpful and useful.

Also for people to help team up to challenge their class. For instance Master Sniper VS Master Scout could find each other and scrim to improve their respective skills.

I understand a lot of the game does require skill, but mentors could still be useful in the sense of tips, techniques, and then actually helping those recruits practice those techniques by being targets

HWG's Guide to Being CREDIT TO TEAM!

I'm working on integrating a similar idea that you already stated. If you'd like to collaborate on that, I'd be happy to do so. :) I believe we talked about it on Page 4.

Yeah, I read your post before I posted this, but did not read past.

It seems to be incorporating a lot of what I was talking about, the only thing I think I have to add is the idea of mentoring and pairing off with a master of your classes nemsis to train.

I like your idea! It would be fun to learn to play spy from, oh say, Frisky the backstabber.

You as well as everyone else my young padawan, only because of this...

Don't take tips or "tricks" from anybody and realize why they work yourself. Sure you may be able to do X well but do you understand Y? (Tee hee) Just find your own play style and don't do the same thing you did twice when you die and you'll eventually get better. Don't blame anything on lag, or the sun in your eye at 9 pm ( Happens to me all the time so I understand), yada yada yada ; just have the guts to say "Oh wow that guy/gal is better then me, I better make sure to only attack him/her with other people." or "Dang, that heavy medic pair really sticks together, I should go behind the medic instead of attacking the heavy with multiple people. (Hint hint make the medic rage)

Also having "master" classes and mentor seems a tad arrogant since all of us are far from the best. If you think somebody is good just play against them and you'll eventually learn how to beat them. Mentors would just reinforce the idea of being at the top of one's level when we can really all improve.

Aqua, while I understand the arrogant side of it and learning for yourself from trial and error, there are some people that are just better at a class. Spy above for an example.

What I mean by master vs master type deal isn't necessarily just master; I mean people of equal skill who can try to improve off each other, yes they might learn how to beat that one person really well but I think there would be some improvement in general.

For instance in the Scout Vs Sniper it'd be the sniper to learn better to shoot at erratic targets, and the Scout how to avoid sniper fire.

As for the Trial and error part, some people don't want to reinvent the wheel and just some basic critiques can help.

Example of that would be in the case of mentoring would be someone spectating (or viewing a recording afterwords) of someone while they play and then just make suggestions off what they've seen.

For instance, Solider takes a bit of sill in learning how to lead... Yes we're told to lead but thats the same as "aim better" in terms of advice. Someone spectating can say "Hey, I notice that you've been tending to shoot to short (which can be hard to see from across the map or in the fray) try aiming a bit higher.

or heck, just helping breaking old habbits or things that we aren't ourselves aware of that we are doing. For instance, for awhile as scout without realizing when trying to avoid i'd do jump left, left, then generally right making me an easy target.

As far the ego part, look some people are better at the game/have had more time to develop and learn subtle nuances. I'm willing to take their advice.

While it has flaws, it doesn't mean that it doesn't have uses in parts.

If frisky has this, I'm the ninja that burns him.

Also there are 2 different kind of tips, opinions and facts of how to play the game. For example an OPINION of skill in the game would be something like, Backburner sucks and only bad people use it. a FACT of the game is that Many people use the backburner for w+m1ing. But it still has its uses.

Also, idk if the title of this thread is allowed... :P

AND eGO sometimes has Class training events, the last one was a spy one. So of course the next one has to be a pyro one according to my logic :)

I nominate Opeth for Master Spy and myself for Master Soldier.

Step right up.
