I keep getting this virus on my virus scans. Do you know what it does and where it is from? I only play DODs and am not sure why it keeps coming up>

lots of things. 1 - which antivirus are you using? I ask because every antivirus uses their own defenitions and actually names each virus by its own standard. Norton may call it 'virus.reallybad' while pccillin might call it 'ohcrap.thatsux.B'.
Knowing the name MAY help, but knowing the AV brand helps alot more. Some companies like symantec have great and detailed listing of their virus database and exactly what they do and hwo to remove them. They also provide the names which the same virus is called by other companies. However, AVG for example, hardly ever has any information and I find it extreemly unhelpful.
2 - when it scans and finds the virus, does it ask you for action and or do you read the whole screen. Someitmes it is looking for you to tell it to delete or quarentine, and other times it will say "fixed" or maybe "unable to solve". You can see how those means different things. I am wondering if you are continuously getting the same thing (as it seems you think you are) or if it just not being taken care of after being found.
Also, if you have a home network and are connected to other computers - check those computers because viruses spread over networks like ez squeez on crackers (if that didnt make sence its because I ddint try for it to).
It is important to have antivirus on all computers on a network otherwise you may not bother putting it on any of them. (I say that because most home networks are setup to allow firewall bypass on the local network).
If you dont make sure all the computers connected to yours are safe then you could very well see that message for a long time.

OK I have AVG (ahhhhhhhh) and it says its deleteing it. !! this is the only computer in the house..

I dont know what (sp?) means but selecting the right antivirus solution is about the hardest thing people ask me. Every different program has strong and weak points, just like every different person is suseptable to different viruses.
For example - gramma surfing the web is probably only going to get website based viruses, or ones which spread from email attachments - while billy grandson is using bearshare, and limewire and download pron with viruses built in.
Lets say that it just happens that panda av works great for grandma but billy gets viruses every other day with it. While, perhaps Norton workcs for billy but not for grandma. (these are random choices of AV and do not imply that these two specificaly are better int hese cases). I have grown to dislike AVG since sometimes last year - before then it was impressive but just isnt cutting it for me. Sometimes you just have to try different ones and when you find one that works for you stick with it and never let it go (untill the company changes it and its sucks <cough old mcafee vs curent mcafee cough>)
You can surfe the web for free AV like avast and see if its any better but to be honest, I find in the situation of my customers - there really is only two AV that I ever reccomend or put on and those are Norton and Kaperski. if you pull a long straw and norton actually works for you then it usually ends up working flawlessly. However, if you pull the short string you are boned and there is no other way to put it. Luckily for me, i pull the long straw with every one of my personal computers lately - and most of my customers as well. However, I also skip cirtian yeras.

2008 very unimpressed as of earlier this week.
Also, if you go the norton route, do not get internet security or system works. Only get straight clean antivirus with no other junk in the trunk otherwise you will regret it. Norton also has a bad track record for being installed onto computers which are already infected (in my experiance).
Leately more and more, I have been finding that while norton works most of the time - nobody ever drawn short strings with Kaperski - last comparatives report i read kaperski had the highest catch rate, lowest impast, nearly fasted boot time and least affect on the computer system. It's like win win.

for a more detailed analysis of the most current AV's type anti virus (two words or try one word) into search and look for porevious threads in this forum. I have linked to a good website, but i dont knwo it by heart. I could search but so could you =: )
