Notice: As of this posting, this is NOT an official eGO guide. This is solely my work, unless others care to add their own helpful tips and advice.
This will be updated every so often as I come up with more material.
Current version: 0.2
So, you've decided to try out this game-type called "Jail" that we here in the CS:S Division love so dearly. HOLD YOUR HORSES! There are several things you should know before starting out.
1. READ THE RULES FIRST. They are at http://www.edgegamers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=142934 and are REQUIRED READING.
2. READ THE RULES FIRST. This is so important it's listed twice, so just do it already.
3. Since you're new, you might want to spectate a few rounds to help yourself learn the maps, gameplay style, and general rules.
4. Once you're ready to play, GO TERRORIST. I know that CT button is really tempting, but you really don't want to take that spot if you're just starting. The best way to learn a map is to watch other terrorists to learn pathways and rebelling tactics.
5. So you're ready to be a CT! That's great! Just... ease up on the trigger since you're new. It's easy to accidentally freekill when you're new, so your best bet is to cover your other teammates, and watch what they do. Don't let your guard down, but don't gun down someone for twitching either.
6. So you want to be warden! Have you played at least ten rounds of Jail? Do you know the map? Can you give clear, precise orders? Do you have a mic? If you answered yes to all of these questions, you might be able to be a good warden! Practice makes perfect!
7. If you don't have a mic, it's generally best to play as a Terrorist, since the CT team relies on communication. This is not a rule, and results might vary.
8. If you're a CT, don't wander off to explore the disco or hang around super close to the terrorists. You will likely die quickly and be laughed at. Nobody likes being laughed at. Be smart. Be safe. Stick with your team.
9. If you saw a pile of bodies in real life, would you go up to them to find out what killed them? Or would you go another way? Be smart. Stay alive.
10. ONLY USE GRENADES WHEN SUITABLE. Examples include: You are last CT, there is a rebeller hiding in cell and everyone should be out of cellblock (as in NO ONE REMOTELY NEAR THAT CELL), in or down vents (autowants). Not suitable times: Temptation, when orders are first given and everyone is in or around cells, suicidal yourself around the T's, tossing it into the air like a git.
12. WHEN IN DOUBT, FRAG OUT! A well-placed grenade around a corner or down a vent can be your best friend.
13. If you're the last T or CT standing, and you're being pursued, try turning a corner and dropping a grenade on the ground as you run away. If you're lucky, your pursuer will turn the corner and the blast will be the last thing he sees.
14. Yes, yes, we all love the AWP, but the whole CT team shouldn't be armed with them. Mix it up a little. Assault rifles/shotguns for wardens and anyone else in close range to T's is a good mix. You wouldn't have a whole team of snipers in TF2, would you?
15. MAY I BE WARDEN? You really only need to ask once. Despite rumors, yelling it over and over into the mic does not increase the odds of actually becoming a warden.
