Do you want to get noticed in eGO? Do you die right away every round and need someone to vent over it with (yes, that was an awesome pun)? Maybe you’re the kind of guy who wants to brag about how many times you’ve PMed Beta today. Or, there’s always the chance you’re just there to tell Idol how cool he really is.
If you said yes to or agreed with any of those, you need to get Ventrilo. First, go to www.ventrilo.com to download the client. Once at the homepage, click “Download” and select your OS and bit version. Wait for it to download, and then install. When it’s done, open Vent and click the arrow next to “User Name”. Enter your name as it is on the eGO site, and then click the arrow next to “Server”. Now, pick a name such as “eGO” or “Edgegamers” and type it in. Then enter “voice.edgegamers.org” as the hostname, and “29272” as the port number. Click connect and start chatting! There are rooms for each division, miscellaneous game rooms, and new member rooms. Feel free to hang out in any of these, and get your voice heard!
There are many ways to customize Ventrilo, as well. For example, you can either use the ordinary version or go into toolbar mode. Toolbar mode replaces the buttons with words on the right on the window with pictures on the top part of the window under your username/server options. If there’s someone you can barely hear, a spammer, or just someone that’s too loud, you can right click their name and go to Miscellaneous --> Special Effects --> Volume, and then adjust that one person’s volume.
I hope this guide has helped you with setting up Ventrilo. Be on the lookout for updates and new editions to this guide in the near future! If anyone has any constructive criticism or requests for me to add something, contact me or post in this thread.
PS: I think this should go here, move if necessary.
