CS:S FPS Spike?

I've recently re-installed CS:S and I'm playing it. However, there's something wrong with it, the configs don't work and the -dxlevel I put in counter strike property doesn't work.
The thing that annoys me the most is lag spike. When I play CS:S -- the first ten minutes works fine (FPS is 80~110). Then after that ten minutes or so, it starts to lag like heck. I get 9-10 FPS, and it stays that way for another 5 minutes. Then after 5 minutes, it goes back up to 90~100, then back down. The pattern keeps repeating, and I hate it. Is there anyway I can get this fixed?

Thanks for helping. :)

Besides, haven't been playing CS:S in a long time, are there any changes?

It might be just the updates kicking into your computer. I have been having that problem recently. Just give it some time playing and then you should be used to it. Maybe it might even let you do what you wanted.

If you Google search most likely you can find new configs I've seen some on the steam forums, welcome back!

I was thinking about this, it's probably getting used to it. I'll just play it for another few days and see how it goes.

Silly Ieye, 44 doesn't divide by 5! We have 11 4 slot jail servers.

1 ct to 3 ts? coolness!

Also about power's problem....it has been happening to me on and off since the update. I've looked everywhere, currently no fix for this. Sorry power, you're just going to have to deal with it until something changes.

Hey does this happen to you when you play on other games as well?

If so it might be a Graphics Card problem not the game.

ahh crap...
This also happens to my other games, like MapleStory... -.-
Stupid graphic card.
Weird thing is... the games were fine a few days ago and it just happen all of a sudden.

Try to update your drivers.

If the FPS spike still occurs after the update, you might be having a overheating issue.

Probably overheating issue. My room has been really hot lately and my computer is on for 12 hours a day.

How can I stop the issue?
