French Invasion - Strand

The Allies landed three successive waves against the Axis-fortified beaches. The invasion force posed a serious advantage in numbers of troop levels and overwhelmed Axis defenders. Each wave was successful, destroying communications equipment and heavy artillery in the first wave and routing enemy troops and reinforcements in the second and third wave. There was no doubt it would be a tough fight for the Axis who fought well, inflicting up to 20% casualties on the invading force.

The Allies have established their Beachhead in the town of Caen. This means that the Axis will have to assault the map of dod_caen and defeat the Allied defenders before they can attack England from France. It will be played out as a best of 3 round assault, and the Axis must attack using the France territory.

Italian Invasion - Anzio

The Axis were better prepared for the assault on the Italian town of Anzio. The Allies launched five desperate waves of attack, nearly seizing the town in the first two waves before being thrown back to the sea by Axis reinforcements in the third, fourth, and fifth waves. The fate of the Allied victory came down to just a handful of soldiers who were unable to break Axis lines. Good fight to both sides.

As a result of their loss, the Allies will not enjoy a Beachhead in Italy. The territory of Italy will remain as it usually is in Realism and may attack North Africa at will.

North African Invasion - Rommel

After hearing word of their defeat in Italy, the Allies landed on African soil with a furious zeal. Posting superior numbers once again, the Allies found the Axis beach bunkers largely unoccupied. The Axis had taken defensive positions around the airfield and armored vehicle depot, instead. In three waves, the Allies managed to destroy the anchored artillery pieces in addition to the fuel and previously mentioned depot. Such success did not come without a loss, however, as the Axis inflicted up to 25% casualties on the invading force. It was hard-fought on both sides.

As a result, the Allied invasion has successfully reinforced British soldiers cut off in the region. The territory of North Africa will receive a five point bonus to their Defensive Points on the strategic map.

We hope everyone enjoyed the Invasion themed Realism this week, it was the first time we had tried it and I'm sure there are things we could do in the future to ensure it runs more smoothly. If you hated it, however, worry not! Realism will return next week with all the usual fighting and drama you expect from a Campaign Battle. Stay tuned through-out the week for map announcements and promotions!

it was great, lengthy but a fun new event to kick off another campaign ;). good stuff, thanks for setting it up and running it TA's!

Great time last night. Thanks ron, blue, and cwhit for setting it up :thumbup1:

The best realism I've been to yet. Well done players and thank you all who organize the campaign :)

Germans botched Rommel--perhaps due to unfamiliarity with the map. Don't get all defensive about it guys, it's a legit excuse cause you guys didn't use the killzones.

Also...I wonder what there was about the first and third rounds that wasn't there the second...there must be something we can find...haha

I dont find it a coincidence that the two maps the Allies won were the ones where you had a 3:1 or 4:2 ratio for Lifes to Deaths.
:)

Big +1 to you guys and anyone else that set things up. Great job everyone.

Congrats to everyone, sounds like it was a blast. I should be back in town next week, look forward to seeing you all in the next Realism.

Lol I knew this was going to come up. The part Compton doesn't add is that there was roughly a 1.3/1.4:1 Allies:Axis death ratio only because of the coming off the beach. If you could break down the matches of once we made if off the beach to the end, we had a better K:D than the Germans and blew all of the objectives. A very small few Allies died more than the few times the Germans were allowed. :)

I might not be too good at math but week 0, come on!

Well, in response to the Rommel question the map is so big we could barely plan out and look at all the spots before time was up, that in mind, the 30 seconds to get to our positions was tight considering u had to run across such a large map

Was brilliant.. I think it would be fairly safe to say that there would be no real opposition to starting each campaign off like this in future!

We gave those Yankee Cowboy's a bite of your steel on the beaches and in the desert, but I'll be damned if we don't push them back into the Atlantic!
Can't wait for the next round!
