2x GTX460 1GB

Since there are only a handful of users here with DX11 capable rigs, (even though plenty have 5770s :glare: ), I think I will change the benchmark on Monday (-8 GMT). Check the OP to see what it is so you can be ready.

Tessellation, bro. AMD's GPUs have like 2 geometry cores, while the Nvidia cards have around 16.

o.O you lost me. If there's that big a difference in tessellation how do comparatively priced cards perform relatively the same in games? Or is this benchmark kinda targeting that specific spec?

Nvidia cards can run highly tesselated games at much better FPS than AMD cards. But games don't even utilize the kind of tesselation that the Nvidia cards can handle. Thats why in general, you see performance of the Nvidia cards and AMD cards pretty similar instead of like a 5870 getting 10 FPS while a GTX 470 is getting like 65 FPS.

This is a benchmark so it uses a ton of tesselation and is kind of like Unigine Heaven but this seems to do even more tesselation so it strains the AMD GPU's even more than it does the Nvidia.

Something like that lol

Don't rely on these benchmarks for real world performance though. But in general, a 5870 and GTX 470 trade blows in games. I wouldn't get a 5870 anymore though, too expensive and the 6870 is a much more efficient card. The GTX 470 is better than a 5870 just because Nvidia dropped the price to compete with a 6870 pricing but its a power hungry and hot card.

AMD 6900 series look like a win so far.......

This benchmark is extremely tessellated. Think of Heaven bench. Times it by 2. That's this demo. It's crazy. EVERYTHING has tessellation.

That's what I was looking for. Now it makes sense .

<----- Total nubsia. Comparing it to Heaven benchmark means nothing to me.

You have to remember, if I tried running a benchmark on my laptop it would literally burst into flames and explode. That or I'd just get <1 fps

Ok [ame]http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p186/overkill7794/stonegiant.png[/ame] are the results of my GTX 460.....Something seems a bit off, it never seems to hit 100% gpu utilization and the fps is awfully low compared to the other 460 benchs. Are you guys running the 1GB version? A cpu or vram bottlenecking issues seem to be reasonable explanations, I am going to run some more tests :P

-Update. I seem to get slightly lower performance at stock clocks, upping memory clocks by 100mhz had no impact. I also noticed the cpu is at 75-80% usage during a gpu benchmark? I am blaming this on the cpu I think.
