Who here enjoys Alltalk? I know I do. I constantly find myself talking to the enemy team with casual conversation, then half-way through the conversation yell uncontrolably into the mic out of rage. After the yelling, I resume my conversation.

Also, no.

It's ok in events when there's a small number of people, but otherwise I agree with mrcool.

Depends on the map, the people in the server, and how long it stays on.

If its on longer than an hour its annoying. But anything less than that is fine.

+1 no!

I enjoy it sometimes, but the team tactics like, let's totally drop down on the flag room usually fails.

Not to mention people looking at my cloaked speech bubble. stupid mean people.

I like Alltalk for events. However, Alltalk...

...encourages voice chat spam and
...makes the most vital team communication medium useless.

I'm a touch typer with a top speed of 130 WPS in small bursts. However, even that speed cannot best "tap Q and yell 'Spy is Auto' whilst not standing still and being shot."

If you want comradre, want to share jokes, or whatever, text chat is perfectly fine. I text chat jokes and jibes at the other team when in spawn, or waiting for metal to crank out of a dispenser, or whatever. But when the spy is sapping, and what he is sapping is my sentry, I want to be able to alert my teammates without having to shout over yabber on all talk.

Or, put another way, when I am a spy, and I'm sapping, and what I'm sapping is the enemy sentry, I want to be able to tell my team it's safe for the next 10 seconds without waiting 10 seconds for the line to clear up.

Single-team talk doesn't eliminate this, and it can be fun to goof off on talk (especially with HWG in the house!) but with that said, as the team has a stake in urgent communication, they're likely to release the talk key when they hear "spy" or "demo" or "help" in the garble.

An option to vote to turn on alltalk would be nice. For special privileged members, of course. :)

I personally love it. Besides if someone spams too much don't we generally just mute them (excluding me)?

But alas, an option would be very nice.

Dropbox it! I have used this on other servers before, It unfortunately requires user to modify their autoexec.cfg file,. But every tf2 user has done it for their maul access anyway! Just my opinion.

I enjoy having alltalk on when getting servers started, but once they've filled up a bit and gameplay has become a tad more srsbsns, it can cause grief and make it difficult for teams to communicate.

I'd rather be getting pwned by n00bs than be constantly policing chat. It's been my experience that allchat invites spam that teamchat does not. I'd rather not have the hassle or ear-spam.

This, exactly this.

We don't need vote-alltalk, and we don't need the ability to add alltalk. If we want all-talk...

..we have Ventrilo! Which we should all be on anyway, aye? Invite the cool pubs on the other side to join you in the chat room if you want, and eGO's everywhere will thank you for not having even more distractions.

Then give the admins power to control alltalk when it gets out of hand? Idk, just seems like there is another option besides just Ventrillo (which gets sorta sticky in Source games where you have virtually 2 voiceovers going at all times - makes my head hurt). Just my two cents, I will now bow gracefully out. :P
