heyyy what up everyone in the dod:s community, the names hondapower and i come from the days of 1.3 and i actually played with alot of your members back when 1.3 was the thing to do. i played serveral seasons of cal/tpg in 1.3 along with pubbing it up at the old school TR/RP, DF, mammajammas, etc.

i am in dire need of some config assistance tho, i cant seem to get my fps high enough for my liking. . .meaning in the 80+ range. my set up is as follows.

amd 4800+ x2
asus m2n32sli delux mobo
4 gigs ocz drr2 800 ram ( 32bit windows doesnt read the whole 4 gigs)
windows xp 32 bit
8800 evga 320mb gts vid card

i honestly dont know why i cant pull better fps, i set my resolution to 800 x 600 ( ive always played in this resolution ) lowered all the settings and tried some "fps" configs from gotfrag n such. But on your ava server my fps cap out at about 60-70. . its playable but bugs me.

ive had a few probs, it seems that my config always decides to change back to default and the overall lack of fps on an 8800 card. . . so how do i fix this and stop my config from going back to default. . .

Hey Hondapower, it's great to get peeps over from DOD classic. Hopefully someone can help you with your technical question. You would usually post it in "tech help" but this isn't a solely technical thread so I'll let it slide.

Hope somone can assist you, greenmonkey is always pretty helpful also. You could try pm-ing him.
 
I waited to see if this would get moved or if he would pm me as advised. The short answer? I dont think you are going to.

The long answer? well, i will wait to see if you even read this or not before i spend 30 minutes typing.
 
um, fact - source is terribly made for high fps.
fact - i have pretty much same specs as you
fact - my tinkering leaves me with 50 steady

Your specs are about same as mine but i have a 7900 gt and i get 60 - 70
I have AA off, AS Tri, Shadows off, Shaders Low, and 1920 x 1200
but I had to lower my settings cause my comp was freaking about something else. Mine n high with 1920x1200 res ran at 50 fps.
So set all your settings on low and work up from there or all on high then down
 
As far as I could tell all the tinkering in Console made only a slight difference to my FPS but made gameplay worse. I'd steer clear,
 
i dunno. . . ive always been one to want performance over it looking pretty, i did the same thing to my 1.3 config also, and am trying to do the same for source, but im finding it a lil harder to do. . sorry about the late response, i spent the weekend fishing and paintballing ( not at the same time however ).

but ive always played my games in 800 x 600, i dont know why i just do. . .
 
oh i also figured out my ht multiplier was screwed up o rsomething, so it lowered my fsb down to like 200mhz. . .it wasnt pretty
