Dislike of DOD:S ranking system!

Hey guys,

This is not a complaint, but just thought i'd mention i hate the ranking system on the dod:s servers... Having a decent score like 80:20, and losing 50+ points and a fare few positions, to me that just doesnt sound right? what do you guys think... I'm not asking for it to be changed, maybe just considered for the future, if there is any better option of the stats system.

Yes i so agree on this, i had a score of 40 - 17 once and i went down 14 ranks, can you believe that?! 14 ranks. But eh, DOD:S/Valve isnt changing it back anyway, so all we can do is try to have fun in the game and ignore the damn rank/point system. And maybe the rank system sucks, but that doesn't mean DOD:S is no longer any fun, i still like player DOD:S, and I am coming to the realism satherday evening GMT+1 at 9.00 PM:P Amen
 
Yeah BlackBird, it's all about the fun, and that's what is running through my head when i play, but it doesn't stop me constantly typing "rank" and noticing i've gone down 10 positions, which gets me frustrated and i then end up playing even worst! ahhh, we will have to play together sometime and have a laugh, see if it effects our scores at all :P

Valve dosen't provide the Stats. HLX does.

Just turn your points off by typing hlx_display 0 in chat. That's what I do to forget about them.
 
You're not the first person to complain about the point system. Definitely not the last either. My advice is to forget about it and not pay attention to it. You'll only stress yourself out in the long run being upset about how many points you have and what rank you are. I personally can't see it happening any other way. And please don't take this as me saying stats are worthless. It is nice to know how well your are doing, but I would rather have fun instead of always being concerned about points and rank. I do just as well or better than I did when I still paid attention to them. To take it a step further, I have set my display so that all the stats don't show up with hlx_display 0. Now I don't know where I am at with points as I don't see it on every kill and death.

As for another stats system, that would be something you could talk at greater length with leadership about. My impression is that eGO uses this stat system primarily for reasons other than being a great stat system. I think it has more to do with admin considerations. There are probably better ones out there, but this is what we have right now. If you know of a great one, give leadership a holler.
 
Yeah i should try to stop thinking about my position and points etc, as it does get me fairly frustrated! :P Although it would be very nice to chase to the top-10 leader board! Not so far away now.. 370 positions to go :)

^^ The best thing you can do is turn off notifications so you don't see point gain/loss. Use it in say chat, I promise you'll stop worrying about points after not seeing them for a month.
 
hah, Thanks Erich, and Ronpaul.. I may consider that, but for the time being i'll keep it up and test myself, aim to not get so frustrated when i go down positions :)

yeah that point system blows. thats why i dont even care about points anymore...
if your in top100 u need to get kdr like 100 before u can get even few + point,
 
what we should do is every time you kill someone you get 2 points. Every time you die you lose 2 points. Objectives and flag caps are 3 points.
 
I have mine disabled, and I only type in
HLX
then press 2, to see what my Accuracy is. :) but i think when it is disabled alot of people play better IMO.
 
I have pretty much accepted that HLXstats are not going to show what kind of a player you are (whenever I do great, I go down...whenever I do poorly, I go up...makes no sense) so I try to ignore it, but just yesterday I had this one come up:

I was on Ava and killed a guy with 1200+ more points than I had. I got 8 points for the kill. I then die.
As I come back after respawning, the same guy had picked up my rifle (I assume) and kills me with it. He gets 10 points for killing me.

???!!!
 
I've lost 1,000 points in 4 days and my KD really has not differed at all. I regert changing up classes, for now I feel that I'm not as slick of a support as I used to be, but i guess its slowly coming back.

I was BUGGING out about this in avalanche today, and I'm wondering if you noticed, synergy. haha

Screw it. I'm disabling the notifications.

Like I was yesterday with campers and the idea of possibly not winning? hahaha

I will (do) sacrifice thousands of points just to push the team forward and "just win, baby". I think that's why I love Realism and have taken to it so much, because nobody cares who did what or who had what K:D. Everything is just "____ won" or "_____ lost".
 
Rank shmank. I agree with YSD completely, I find if i'm doing a poor job I'll barely lose points, but if I'm up front I usually lose points. It all depends on the other player, choice of weapon, etc. etc. I've gained/lost atleast 600 points in the past 2 days, my KDR is probably like a heart rate monitor. You could be the best player in eGO and still have a rank that says otherwise.
