Dislike of DOD:S ranking system!

i havent seen a hlx points bashing thread in a while. kudos! if you aren't going up in points well enough to your liking get out there and cap flags and help out your team instead of camping and boosting your kdr.

lol this is a semi-joke, yes hlx sucks. but seriously, go cap more flags.

I know I was trying to get into the 10K club.. but then I noticed I started taking it seriously and that took away from the main objective which was to have fun. So I disabled it and have had tons more fun since. Give it a try :D

I feel your pain man in dod I get a average of 10-15 points per kill because im a noob and just started playing.
But in insurgency since my rank is so high every time I die i lose on average 10-20 points but I only make 2 points per kill.
I just don't even bother playing on one of our ins servers anymore because while I'm at the top of the score board and got the most points in game I lose a average of 200points per round on hls. Some people say they don't care about the rank system but I do because the countless amount of hours I play lol!

ahh our points system. I think its about the most fair system around. It accurately records and fairly distributes points to the players who deserve....oh who am I kidding.

Our system unfortunately does none of the above mentioned things. You just have to deal with it. I do not think anybody here on the forums plays for only the stats though.

ya know, everyone says just play for fun and forget about the points; and i think most people really do try but sometimes its just so hard to ignore lol. i don't really care that much about my score but when i'm playing and some guy keeps killing me and taking 25 points a kill...its just frustrating lol. we just gotta deal with it and do our best to just have fun :)

I agree with everything on this thread! You think your doing well until youve lost 200 points...
I was told that the points dont matter... So i try not to pay attention to them.

I just find it funny when people say "Don't worry about the stats, don't worry about your score" blahblahblah but then people refer to how good or not good somebody is by their score or ranking. :P

I like the point ranking system except for the fact that as soon as a player below 3000 points comes with his thompson and random-headshoots me, and gets 25 points for a fluke!

I've been trying to figure out the command to turn of HLX, thanks :P And I will be turning it off now.

Honestly if you think about it some guy in the background going sniper only giving nothing to the team can rack up alot of points. goin 40-12

Assault guy in the front lines dying 20 times in a row but finally gets the winning capture is like 40-38.

At the end of the day I root for the guy who helped get the team motivated and died for the team when needed and even if he never gets the flag at the end hes helping the team push for that victory.

Ignore the points. Ignore the player scores. They do not show properly how good a player is. Just how good a person is at getting points.

Kills don't mean crap. Sportsmanship and being a team player ranks #1 in my book any day of the week!

Disclaimer: I am not knocking snipers, they can be helpful and productive if used properly as any class can. The above stated was just an example.

Maybe because if you actually care about how much skill you have you know what the points system is debalanced?

Lol.. bro. I'm sorry but that was a pretty lame response.

As much as it bothers me a tad, that's all it is, a slight bother. I don't care what the points show, the odds are once I go support or MG i will pwn. thats it dude. I don't need my points to be above 100,000 billion to tell me I'm good. YAH DIG?

if your good then who cares about the points. Of course i cared for like.. a month. Then i realized the points system, well, its whatever. Its a stupid inaccurate system created so you feel like you have more to build up to & thus, raising the replay value of of DoD:s, and a few other source games. It is what it is. I've been played DoD:s long before the points system was made, or even popular. its whatever to me and many others mah boiiiii.

just get past the fact that getting 25 points for a headshot while mobile with a sniper means jack to yo' actual skill.

FABBRINI! you be KILLIN' it!

This is exactly the same for me at the moment, I've just disabled mine because I was always worried about how many points I was losing.
