Bad connection upstairs

Hello,

I got another tech problem

I just moved to another room in this house (we got 3 floors and i moved from the 2nd to the 3rd). Anyway I used to be in the room next to the router, now i moved straight up, so i'm 1 floor higher, and 1 room next to it, still following it?

But, my connection is so bad here, its porb gonna take ages to post this thread.
Does somebody know how to fix it? My internet card in my PC is not the problem i think, its the Linksys WMP-600N or something, with double signal things.
Somebody got a tip or solution?

Oh and btw, there is also a computer on the room next to me now, so thats also on the 3rd floor. He says he has a just fine connection, and i dont

What type of router do you have? Though your card sports the b/a/g/n Date Link Protocol, the "n" is only the draft. It's not a true "n" with today's cards and might be shy of distance or strength in comparison. But true, I don't believe your card is a problem.

Blackbird to solve that problem you'll need to do:

A.- Boost signal from your router, enter your router IP in new browser tab and find the option where it says, well you know, signal strength.

B.- Place a new router in your third floor and make it work as a transmitter.

or

C.- Get a Cat5 cable up there!!

Running cat5 is the best suggestion. You may want to try turning off wireless N and switching to G to see if that gives more assistance going through walls. Wireless N does have more range, but its more susceptible to some obstructions.

Ah OK, well I think my parents don't want me to lead a cable to this floor, they want everything to look perfect and clean you know. So if this problem stays I might buy another router and use it as access point.

do you know what frequency your router runs on for wireless. perhaps a wireless phone you have is interfering with the router signal?

I've just been on the phone to overclockers UK, and i was questioning about a wireless card, whether to get one or not.. Straight away he told me to not get a wireless card, but to get a wireless dongle/usb.. He said it receives wireless signal from a router at twice the strength of what a wireless card does.. He said the card gives off some radio frequency stuff which effects it all!

Ok, atm im reveicing internet true a simple cheap wireless usb internet thingy. I'll see if that works better.

I like the "place the connection point on the third floor" idea. The signal, like most things is actually subject to gravity. If you could see a picture of the WiFi signal, it would look something like a dome (for the most part). The signal tends to rise from the access point just a little and then spreads away, but since it falls victim to gravity like we do, it goes wide in every direction as it falls.

The HIGHER UP it is as a new signal the WIDER the footprint of the dome will be at the ground (1st floor of your house). More WiFi for more family members, plus, you don't have to buy or change anything. Just find a way to plug it in upstairs and you oughtta be good.

Sorry for my late reaction, but this thread got my attention again becaus im lagging very much in a lot of games right now. Not high ping but package loss.

Anyway, my parents wont let me move the router + modem anyway.
So, I was thinking about a router with acces point.

How do i install this?
