Not sure what PC to get?

PewPew, i could get this for an extra ?80

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Thats kind of top budget... The one you suggested was +?250, which is to much...

what do you think to that one?

I have that card. It's good, when it works. Well, it works in any game, but it doesn't give a consistent frame rate in lots of games.
So, while your average may be 60, it isn't derived from a range of 55-65, it's more like 20-100 fps. It's very very very annoying. I'm going back to Nvidia when more 500 series cards come out.

Okay cheers phobus, It'll be fine for DoD i guess though?

Source games run fine for me, so I assume it would be.
But if you want to play some Lost Planet 2, or several benchmarks, don't even think about it.
There are more games, I just can't think of them right now.

Black Ops runs fine, too. But since it's sloppy coding, the max FPS you'll get is around 73fps. Even though with the requirements, you should be getting >200fps...

The 6850 will do you fine since you only plan on playing source games. It's more than enough and will allow you to play some other titles down the road too. Just don't expect to max out every game that comes along. You could always crossfire when you need the extra power since the 6850's scale tremendously and will get you performance of about a 5970 or almost 2x5870.

I can max out Warhead at 1920x1080 with an average of ~29fps. Big deal? The minimum frame rate is ~27fps. That's awesome. It is actually playable at max everything. :D

Question.... why is the 6850 worse than the 5870? Shouldn't every 6xxx card beat the 5xxx cards?

Because they changed the naming. The 5800 is the performance cards, right? The 6800 is only midrange.
But the performance is somewhat close. They kind of screwed the pricing for the 6870, but the 6850 is close (~7%) to the performance of a 5850, while costing much less.

If you're actually happy about buying a card for $100 more for ~7% more power, you might have missed the point. Anyways, the 69xx series, which is the 6xxx's top-tier option, is supposed to be rolling out in Q1 2011 and should replace the 58xx line for that price range.

If by Q1 2011, you mean December 13th, then you are correct. Unless there was another delay. *cough* Fermi *cough*

What's your budget? What would you prefer to spend / what is your max budget? Based on that, we can put together a build for you / find an appropriate machine.

Additionally, what kind of mac do you have? If you have a tower, you can easily install a graphics card / install windows on it on a partition.

Glock, I think I've decided on what I'm going to get, if you look at the previous posts i think it's mentioned what im getting... I have an iMac, so it's awful lol..

I don't know why you won't build on. It'll be so much better than any prebuilt at that price.
Well, except for one. I've only seen ONE prebuilt that was the same price as a DIY build. And it was a dell, too. :confused1:
Anyway, that model is no longer made. You'd save money building it yourself.

Phobus, I dont know how to build one, and i dont have any friends that'll help me either.. Also i may loose my patience, and there are no PC tech stores in this area.. that is why.

It's super easy. You'd have to intentionally do something wrong to mess anything up. It's seriously that easy. Pretty much Legos, just more expensive, and you wouldn't dare leave them on the floor so you can step on them later. -_-
