So I was in the tf2 instant respawn server earlier & I was thinking: I wonder what it would be like to mash up TF2 & Left 4 Dead. Well Idol was in there as well as other eG's & eGO's. We started playing around w/ ideas for names for the mod as well as names for the possible maps. What do you all think? If any mappers/modders read this, what do you think? I know for a fact that im not big into that stuff, but I can certainly lend myself in other areas.

You mean like this?

Do you mean a mini-mod in tf2? Or a full mod styled like tf2? If the latter I'm a decent mapper, not a god but decent. I've been at Hammer for two years.

So heres the thing, that video was a good idea, but I was actually talkin bout the characters from L4D, not the sequel. Also all I saw in that video was just reg zombies, none of the special ones. In my idea, I want to use every different kind of zombie, even the special ones. Now since L4D only have 4 survivors (hence the reason for the name of the game), in the mod they can have both survivors & special zombies. Now how to make the coding work to where the zombies wont attack the survivors, im sure its there somewhere. Anything is almost possible w/ the sdk. Also we can use either TF2 maps or levels from L4D or maybe either make a combo of both maps or even go a step further & create all new maps.

Now for a simple example (just throwin an idea in the air), an engi (happens to be my fav class) can setup a lvl 3 sg. Setup the coding correctly so that the sg will spot the zombie & think of it as an enemy & it will start firing on the zombie (just regular zombie mind u). Now of course when it comes to the Tank, it will have alot more health to it, so more or less it will be able to destroy the sg. Also depending upon the map, if the sg gets placed where alot of reg zombies can get to it, they will eventually destroy it.

Mind you that I have more ideas, but this is just the beginning. I really do feel that this will become more of full mod, so if you would like to do some mapping (Rukus), feel free. Of course all mappers make mistakes, but its where the mistakes happen that more &/or better ideas come about. I appreciate the feedback on this.

The problem is the source code for both TF2 and L4D is closed, meaning the only thing you can do is edit maps. You would have to start from scratch to do anything like Tank vs Engineer.

Well im sure that you can help me w/ that, but of course we would need more help than just you.

I'm pretty much AWOL ego wise this week, my computer fried and I'm waiting on a tech to either bring the parts or give me cash compensation for it failing within the warranty. I'm currently posting from something that might as well be using windows 98.

I can help as soon as it gets here though, in the meantime, talk to Dragonhill. He was the project lead on the last adventure I was into when it came to mods, he can direct you to some former coders if they're still around.

How many times can you B U M P a thread before you get B U M P E D off to banland?

lol, i dunno, but not interested in finding out. anyways, ill hit up dragonhill bout this idea. if anyone knows of someone that can help in any way, shape, or form, feel free to send them this direction. were gonna need all the help we can get.
