Quick Ventrilo question

Hey all, new member here... just had one quick question.

I don't have a headset/mic yet, and I was wondering what kind of text-chat support Ventrilo has. I've used Teamspeak 3 before, and its text-chat was easy, noticeable, and I could participate pretty well through text. Is it just as good on Ventrilo?

There is a Chat box (that has TTS), and you can PM somebody, where you can use both a mic (eventually) and a text box. However, it's not integrated into the game like Xfire, so you would have to be clicking in to read/type.

EDIT: Not many people use the Chat, unless you happen to ask them. When one user closes the PM, you have to open a new one with them to talk again (thus losing chat history unless you copy it), and a few users disabled PM's. Private messages are nonetheless VERY useful when talking to others, and especially useful if you need to contact a leadership member who is hiding in Leadership Only rooms.

only PM,and then a "chat room" that people would need to enter into as well to see. In other words, if they aren't looking to see chat specifically, they won't.

I would recommend just getting a mic as chat is hardly used, unlike teamspeak which has a text box right there.

mic would be teh best bet, but like what everyone said if needed get in vent and pm someone with an advisor tag, dl tag, or concil tag unless they say DND or something along those lines.
