COD4 Servers Issue

So I bought COD4 the other day, and I must say, I am extremely disappointed. I've updated Punk Buster, and enabled Stereo Mix (else MP would crash when launched, WTF).
I hit 'refresh servers', and it claims that there is 8000+, but it only shows a few, and every single one has a ping of over 200 if I'm lucky, else it'll be over 1000. What the hell? There is isn't at least ONE server that isn't hosted from a crapbox in Zimbabwe?
Also, I've tried the eGO servers. They're whack. Ping is higher than it should be (nearing 200), and I get kicked due to some PB crap.
Is there anyway to fix either issue?

Nope, just from what your telling me, you bought your copy off of steam instead of a hard disk didn't you? Yes you did. They know about the issue and have no intention of fixing it.

Cheek the COD division for help... I think they had some kind of fix for the PB kick thing up.

Turn off Steam In-game, kicking solved.

In console type all this,

cl_maxpackets 100
snaps 30
com_maxfps 250
rate 25000
sv_maxrate 25000


Should be fine then.

I turned off the overlay.
I'll try all the stuff in the console. See if that helps at all.

I had the same problem with Punkbuster.

Go to steamapps/common/cod4/pb, delete any files in there and download new ones from here http://punkbuster.com/index.php?page=dl-cod4.php

I just downloaded pbsetup and put it in that folder, opened it, added CoD4 and it updated and everything and then it ran just fine.

Also, Punkbuster recognises the Steam overlay as a cheat. Which is completely not cool, I know, but oh well.

What's the error exactly when it's kicking you?

see if when u launch cod, press ctrl+alt+del. See if PnkBstrA en PnkBstrB are both running. i know some guys who had the same problems

Both are running.

Now the problem is that when I hit refresh, no servers pop up. It doesn't even search, it just sits there for a second, then says "Severs refreshed 10:55"

I've done both.
It's working now. I found a fix, I think. I have a server on my favorites, and if I join it, then quit, more servers show up.
