Servers: Vietnam Brainstorming

My personal thoughts are this.. even tho I prefer conquest. Mixed is the way to go. You can target multiple crowds with this one server. I mean if you don't wanna play both you can suck it up for a map and still have some fun and it will change next map.

Also Map rotation is SO important when your taking this kind of step. There are always gonna be maps that people will leave the server on. You need to establish these maps ahead of time.

If you have a map that someone loves but its not the game type they prefer "" then they just stick around and work on something. Such as : sniping at XXX meters, flying the BH 10 feet above the water and keeping control ect ect. The maps play a major factor in these sorts of server changes.


I've done this alot with alot of success with other communities. Need any help or input just chuck me a PM

It's fine that we can't have another server for our division, but we need to have 2 Vietnam servers
1 Regular
1 HC
and all of them be mixed its not that hard to get 2 Vietnam servers going. Anyway we can get rid of 24/7 oasis, and Mixed mode BC2 rotations in order to have the servers we need, its that simple.
And by the number of people getting Vietnam in the eGO community I think we are going to need 2 servers. So, please reconsider the 1 server notation BC2 Leadership/Duality PLEASE & THANKS

Are you seriously suggesting we scratch our #2 populated server (HC Mixed) and a very popular server (HC Oasis) to put up 2 new servers for an expansion, the success and popularity of which are yet unknown? And having a regular server? In case you hadn't noticed, nobody plays the regular servers. What is most popular? HC Rush and HC Mixed. Regular servers are fail.

Do research please, then perhaps use logic.

Sorry just a big opinion of mine and yes I did do the research on the Oasis map. I will talking stop about this subject, because I know it won't happen. :sneaky2:

On another note I guess people been saying Mixed is the way to go and I'd say do it. It's the best of both modes and people will be happy if we do it that way. Regular is the way to go at first just because we can help get the 69 million player actions to get Hastings.

Just to say this, I hope we don't have anymore 24/7 1 map servers.

EDIT Regular (My Choice) or HC Mixed Vietnam server, 2 rounds per map, 8 map rotation. Till we get Hastings of course.

This is A awesome thread. Nice healthy discussion!
I think one Mixed Mode Hardcore server sound like the best suggestion.
If that server is always full and we are recruiting people from it and it becomes popular then it's more than obvious that we will get another server to meet the demand. I remember when BC2 first came out I think we had 6 servers I might be wrong but that was more than A bad idea. So I think we've hopefully learned from our mistake; Starting out with 1 would be the most wise decision. I've never seen all 4 of our BC2 servers full at 1 time. I've seen 3 full at once on multiple occasions, so which every server out the 4 that we have now that's the least active should be the one converted to BC2V.

In my opinion Mixed is the way to go, since you get some more variation in game and players who has bought Vietnam will definetly play the DLC for a bit more time because of the content it has.
It doesn't really matter which mode (HC or Regular) the server is going to be since I like both gamemodes.
But afterall I would switch 24/7 Oasis to a Vietnam server since it is so hard to get filled up, unless you got a lot of eGO members to help you.

once again mixed caters to different types of people and styles of play. Suck it up one map cause the next map you'll be happy =)

I'll let you all know, now, that it will be a Mixed Mode server (assuming our rcon developer supports it in time) because Vietnam only has 4 maps at launch and not all are multi-mode (rush and conquest). For instance, if we ran a Rush only server it would be a whopping 3 map rotation.

I was wondering where u got your facts Duality? "not all are multi-mode" Yes they are according to http://www.battlefieldbadcompany2.com/vietnam Under the Key Features: 5 Multiplayer maps "Phu Bai Valley, Hill 137, Vantage Point, Cao Son Temple, and Operation Hastings (excluding Hastings for now of course). All game modes from Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (Conquest, Rush, Squad Deathmatch, and Squad Rush) are playable on all 5 maps.

Less then a week away

At least we'll have a Mixed Rotation hopefully all 4 maps with both Conquest/Rush modes per map; making it a 8 map rotation (until Hastings is unlocked). For now, I think it will be Hardcore and hopefully we'll get Regular when the second server comes (PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ) :biggrin:
