Graphics card resetting - Help!

Hey, I got a problem with my laptop.

Last week, my graphics card started resetting itself. Like, screen blacks out, then comes back after a few seconds. After few days, it happened more often, and today, I even got a bluescreen. I don't think it has something to do with overheating, because sometimes the computer has only been on for 15 minutes and is cold, and sometimes it won't happen after hours. So, I copied the error message for the Blue Screen:

I asked a friend about it, he told me to update my drivers. I did, and it kept happening. I even tried downdate (is that even a word) to some older but stable ones.

Oh, and it's an Nvidia Geforce GT 120M.

I hope you can help me with this issue, it's gotten really annoying.

A little update on the problem: It did not work.

If it's not the drivers, could it be an issue with the graphics card itself?

are you playing a game or is it just sitting there? Idk if this will help but you can try dropping the hardware accelleration.

1. Start> Control Panel
2. Switch to classic view than click the Display icon
3. click settings than hit the advanced button
4. Hit the troubleshoot tab
5. Move the slider down a few notches and test it

I don't have to be in a game for it to happen, sometimes I'm just browsing the web or something like that. It usually happens faster than normal if I watch a video on youtube or stuff like that though, if that's to any help.

For the last part you wrote, I have Windows 7, and there's no 'Classic View' as far as I can see.

This happend to me before on my GTX460 and it was a driver problem.

I have the newest drivers, 260.99.


So, I'm starting to think it's an issue with the graphics card itself, any opinions?

Yes, I have.

If you'd read the whole first post, you wouldn't have to ask that question...

Sometimes I have to ask again since some people say they did and when asked again they say they didn't...

If you have a phsyx option in the nvidia control panel try to change it to cpu.

And if that doesn't work then its a good chance its the gpu.

Let me ask you this, what brand is the laptop and how old is it.

I had a HP DV7 with that video card that died so HP replaced the motherboard in it.

I know the new nvidias still have problems with their new chips in laptops which is why now most of the companies moved over to ATI.

It's an Asus X61S. And it's about two years old.

I'll check out the warranty, I'd do almost anything to fix it atm.
