I pulled out my old logitech extreme 3d pro stick for some fail chopper flying.

I'm finding it hard to get a good sensitivity setting I like. I will change it and play a bit, get frustrated, switch sens, play some more, frustrated, switch.......rage pattern continues.

Anyone using a stick of some sort found success and would like to share it.

THANKS

I wasn't even aware you could use sticks with BC2 o.O?

When I fly I use my keyboard!

i sometimes fly with that same stick, haven't used it in a couple months though. the only setting that i really felt was necessary was to increase the dead range up to 15% in all directions since the stick has lousy return to center. beyond the stick though, i found it really helpful to spend a lot of time flying in a dead server while in 3rd person view, although it sucks bad for trying to kill people, 3p gives you a better idea of what the choppers doing(imo)

also, playing follow the leader with a better flier will help a lot, i've got dr.backjack to thank for that(haven't seen him in a while btw)

I've been making some runs on empty servers to play with the settings. After awhile I need some LIVE practice. It will most likely take awhile till I find my sweet spot.

I know I am horrible at flying so i dont even bother:(

I've never bothered to work on my flying skills. I'm just a "Kamikazi" pilot. I use the choppers to get to from point A to point B, maybe with some killing along the way.

I definitely can't keep a bird in the air to use as air support.

You know now that you bring that up, I want to practice flying as well, but don't know the maps well enough to know which ones have air vehicles. Which maps usually have them?

Thats basicly what I do. Though sometimes I forget to tell my passengers that:P

conquest at heavy metal, port valdez, and atacama desert are going to be the best places to learn, there's a couple other places you'll find helis, but those are where you'll get the most map to play with

Much appreciated, amigo! :)

I was playing on the desert map last night. this sniper nub kept being the pilot, so I kept assuming he knew what he was doing. After the 3rd time of flying out to the 2nd point and nose diving it into nothing, i realized he was using it as a flying ATV. LOL

each chopper handles different, so getting used to flying will take alittle longer that expected. I sure enjoy it though when I can do a few circle strafes with a decent gunner and take out 5 or so peoples, only to crash into something and explode. woohoooo!!

I have a Saitek X52 Flight Control System and I can't get BC 2 to even recognize it, so I fly with my Logitech X13 gamepad instead and have got fairly good with it. My favorite map to practice on is Atacama Desert on an empty conquest server to practice with the attack helicopters. Go US and fly the Apache though! It has much better visibility and you can see a lot farther on the map with it than on the counterparts heli!!

You know, are there any helicopter games that are like BC2's helis? That would be sweet if there was.

I just roll with my good old logitech G15 keyboard and razer imperator mouse :) Never really thought about using a stick... switch from keyboard/mouse to stick when you jump into the plane?

in all battlefield games with choppers, i just roll wit the keyboard and mouse, in BF2 i would use a stick to fly the jets but i still preferred mouse and keyboard for choppers, better control imo.

It would be cool if someone could do a flight class to teach others.
I sometimes go on empty servers and practice because I hate being the passenger of someone who doesn't know how to fly correctly, but I still can really figure it out all the way. Anyone here willing to help?

Heavy Metal and Isla Inocentes are the best for chopper practice. You want to start off in the UH-60 Blackhawk. Start on normal, you get a better heads up display and a degree range of your nose position. What I do is I use double keyboard. I have 1 hand on the directional arrows and the other on the throttle and weapon/alt weapon (I bound it to b) and on the look back (standard v). I have the same stick as you but its a lot easier to start off with double keyboard. If you want friend me Diezel7 and we can get in vent and find an empty server I can give you some flight lessons on Isla Inocentes or on Heavy Metal. That offer goes to anyone that wants to learn to fly. My steam is Squirrelkage add me on there and in game and we can try something out. Also Slaz is a great pilot and teacher for flying and I know he would be willing to help on this (he taught me to fly). After you get good with the UH-60, is when you should start flying attack helicopters. The difference between the 2 attacks is the Apache is a solid flyer thats a bit sluggish and easier to fly but going with the Havoc is a better choice because its more responsive. Heavy Metal is the best for this because the wind mills give you something to dodge and the visibility with both helicopters is excellent. It also gives you the chance to fly all the helicopters in the game. The hind is a great tank but its like driving a box truck. Anything else is better to explain in game.
