Dodges and Chrysler cars are similar because they are both MoPar (Motor Parts), which is owned by Chrysler. Also part of MoPar is Jeep (at least I think it is still), also AMC and Plymouth were once MoPar's

Dodge cars like the Avenger and Caliber have the same platform (pretty much the frame) as your Sebring, thats also why they are very similar. (Which is based off of a platform from when Mitsubishi and Chrysler were partners)

AMC was never Mopar. When Chrysler bought out AMC they only kept the Jeep line and dumped the rest (AMC, Eagle). As a matter of fact I still don't consider Jeeps Mopars either.
