I did not get the ultimate. The only differences is the that the ultimate gets backlit keys and usb/sound input in the actual keyboard.

I don't need to see the keys, and all of the other plugs are covered with my computer, so I didn't feel ultimate necessary.

I still can't get over how smooth typing is.

Reflex - my girlfriend bought it for me, so without her I wouldn't get most of the goodies I like. She was the one that just convinced me to buy a HDTV!

I went ahead and got it right after Christmas and I love it. The keys are quite loud though.

Maybe use your previous less loud keyboard for most things and just plug the Blackwidow in for gaming? Also did you get the Ultimate version or just the normal?

Really? Those key switches are made for typing. Using a rubber dome keyboard for typing would just be stupid, especially if you own a mechanical, more specifically MX Cherry Blue switch keyboard.

I would have to agree with Phobus on that one. My computer is in our office at our apartment. Either buy it for everything, or don't (if you have a 'room'mate, or anything similar where they don't like it.

Then again, I could see two college roommates in the dorm, both with the keyboard and not minding it at all...
