This is just a thread were you can talk about airsoft, if any of you do it.

Any of you who don't know what airsoft is, it is a really fun sport like paintball, but the weapons can be actual size as real guns so it adds realism. The guns shoot plastic BBs so the ammo is a lot cheaper than paintball too.

I have an Echo 1 Platinum Edition M4 and I am going to get attachments soon and I use .20g Matrix BBs.

I'm thinking of buying an AEG, it'll be my first that isn't spring-powered though.. Got any tips on what a beginner should buy?

I believe in the UK you have to be over 18, because I would not be buying computer parts and instead buying airsoft gun after airsoft gun if I could.

And in the US you have to be 18.

But OT, I have a JG M4 Custom and a crossman m9 pistol

Closest thing I could find, except it has a solid stock instead of collapsible

Yea, you have to be 18 or have a guardian with you while buying it, or just buy them online :D. You also have to be 16 or older in some places in order to attend events, which will need a parent's signature. And there's always more regulations towards people udner 16 attending events. It's all technical jargon.

But anyways. Been playing for about 4 years now and still ahven't attended an event. I was too young and too busy with school and now college. Although, I did host my own events with about 9 of my friends, those were fun.

I currently have a UTG M324 Black clocking in at 550 FPS and a FirePower Co2, turned into an M9 Beretta, clocking in at 350 FPS.

Go onto Evike (here is a link to the airsoft guns http://www.airsoftpost.com/index.php?cPath=21) Go look in the electric airsoft guns, they are the most reliable. It will have brands of airsoft guns listed, I have found that Echo 1 has really good quality guns. When picking out an airsoft gun, think about whats your favorite real gun, then think of a buget. Once you have chosen a gun it is smart to review it like crazy.(I know from past experience:glare:)

A friendly tip though DO NOT USE WAL-MART AIRSOFT BB'S THEY WILL VOID THE WARRANTY OF YOUR GUN. I suggest to use Matrix .20g airsoft BB's.

Cool, I'll check it out. And for the last part, I live in Norway, so no Wal-Mart here.

Oh, another airsoft thread, time to throw in my 2 cents plus a nice tip (see what I did there?)

Actually, the Crosman BBs you find at Wal-Mart are quite usable. I haven't had any experience with their .12s, but .2s and .25s at least work in an AEG without jamming in my experience (my experience being almost 10,000 rounds of them). Higher-end BBs are more accurate, by all means, but if you're just using an AEG and spewing multiple rounds at a time they get the job done. I can hit a pop can quite consistently at 100' with a CYMA AK and Crosman BBs, so hitting a person isn't at all hard for quite a long distance.

Because I'm terrible at judging distances, I verified that with a 100' tape measure.

On the subject of stores, although Evike has an amazing selection, decent prices, and constantly improving service, they've been known to make frequent mistakes with inventory and packing. It's generally advised to email them and verify an item is in stock before ordering.

Other good stores include WeaponBlender and Airsoft GI. Of course there are plenty of other good ones, but most of my experience is with the ones mentioned.

I tend to be a bit of a chairsofter (hence the long post), but I spend a lot of tinkering with guns and target shooting so that when I do use them they work quite well. As for what specific guns I use, I generally stick with the aforementioned CYMA AK (the full metal/wood CM042, which I bought for $100 as a refurb), a "Swiss Arms" bolt action (seemingly a rebadge of a Well MB02 or other G-SPEC clone) which I got for $5 (yes, five dollars... can you tell I'm an opportunist cheapskate?), and a Y&P Mk23 Non-blowback which I was stupid enough to buy used for almost the full price, and have been tinkering with ever since because it was missing the hopup arm (how the heck that happened, considering the gun didn't seem to have been taken apart in the past, I have no idea). It's still getting a pretty gigantic grouping at 100 feet, but it didn't even shoot 100 feet at first, so I guess I've made progress.

ANYWAY, nice guns everyone. That Echo1/VFC Platinum Series M4 is especially snazzy :D
