Anybody watched it last night?

Iwas kinda disappointed with the Game of the Year recipient and the Character of the Year, but w/e. Majority rules.

Heres the outcomes:

Studio of the Year: BioWare

Best Action/Adventure Game: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Best Shooter: Call of Duty: Black Ops

Best Performance by a Human Male: Neil Patrick Harris (Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions)

Best Indie: Limbo

Best Driving: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit

Best Adaptation: Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game

Best RPG: Mass Effect 2

Best Music Game: Rock Band 3

Best Soundtrack: DJ Hero 2

Best Song in Game: "Far Away" by Jose Gonzalez, Red Dead Redemption

Best Original Score: Red Dead Redemption

Best DLC: Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare

Most Anticipated: Portal 2

Best Character: Sgt. Frank Woods (Call of Duty: Black Ops)

Game of the Year: Red Dead Redemption

EDIT: Oh and Mass Effect 3 and Elder Scrolls V were announced. Can't wait!
 
Bah, like I'd look to Spike for their opinion on gaming.

No, the only good thing that came of the VGAs was the knowledge that the holiday season of 2011 will be the greatest holiday season EVER!

Agreed. Just a bunch of console mumbo jumbo. G4 is actually decent though.

Back in the day...the first one was in '03. Heck I still remember the day I first heard about it. I remember thinking "wow, there is no way in hell I'm ever watching this."
 
They also announced Forza Motorsport 4, Uncharted 3 and showed video of portal 2 xD
 
the VGA's by spike got better and more realistic since its debut, but, they still only look at the mainstream games, the over rated and highly commercialized games.

Even if another game is well known, but falls out of the above categories, it isn't recognized.

Thank God that Portal 2 won most Anticipated! That game is gonna AMAZING!

Ohh and excited about SSX Deadly Descents! About time SSX came back out!
 
i haven't been able to play a snowboarding game since 1080 on the n64. everything just doesn't have those fun memories.
 
I hate the VGA.
It somehow can encompass everything that is wrong with the media. Random celebrities with no connection to the gaming industry awkwardly reading off the teleprompter. It was like the Emmy's, but not even Neil Patrick Harris could save it.

You forgot the part about how there is practically no good indie shooters ever, the majority of indie games are just side scrollers and stuff. Plus 2010 wasn't a year that good for shooters, AND they can't just take into account whether or not its a good game. They gotta take into account how big the fan base is, how realistic it is, graphics, audio, everything that makes a shooter a shooter.
Plus, its really really popular for a reason... its really really awesome :D
 
Black ops as best shooter? Lame. Scott Pilgrim is an amazing game. And Uncharted 3 > Mass Effect.
