I'm just curious to hear other people are thinking regarding where BC2 is going. I'm scared that the game's going to die down quite a bit a few months after Vietnam's release.

Along with that, the way that Vietnam is being implemented is breaking apart the game. Upon release, a ton of players are going to start playing Vietnam. Now over time, how many of these people are going to remain playing Vietnam, how many will ignore Vietnam and go back to regular BC2, and how many will split it up and play both?

I'm certainly not an expert on game marketing, but I feel like this is going throw a wrench in the future of the game. It seems like a fair number of people are buying BC2 still, and the release of Vietnam has stirred more interest in BC2, but will it just add to the player base or are we going to be losing something as well?

Just food for thought. I certainly don't think any of us have the "right answer". I'm curious to see how things turn out.

There hasn't been any official announcement, but given the popularity of the series (particularly with PC gamers) and the cliffhanger in the campaign I'd expect to see BC3. 2012 sounds reasonable for that.

Should be interesting to see! If we keep recruiting and promoting our servers, I don't think we'll have any trouble staying alive until the next installment!

I 2nd this notion :thumbup1:

I almost say we need a Division Meeting to discuss this and other things Right Duality/BC2 Leadership? ;):cool:

I'm going to be playing whatever game is the most fun. If I decide that Vietnam is crap, i'm going to spend all my time in HC Rush/Mixed/Oasis. If Vietnam isn't crap, I'll play Vietnam.

You go by Title "The Professional Semi-Pro"

I imagine we can get more recruits when Vietnam comes out. I will probably play both. We need to keep our servers active meaning we need =(eGO)= players in them to draw pubs. More pubs = more recruits.

I will be playing both. I think BC2 will stay strong for a good amount of time. Just like CoD has.

I definitely agree with you. Hopefully it will offer us a more diverse player base to recruit from due to the new players it's going to be bringing into the franchise. Having eGO members in all of our servers (Vietnam or regular) is a must in order to keep them running smoothly from an administration perspective, but also to keep pubbers interested.

I think the release of the new map pack and vietnam so close together will keep people bouncing back and forth a fair amount. Nothing to worry about.

I'll keep playing battlefield games... period!

and ginger... YOU MUST LIKE VIETNAM IF NOT... YOU'LL SEE!!!

Vietnam will be a new thing, but people will miss the newer era of weapons. People will bounce back and forth me thinks.

Lets take a look at other games, i understand that other games arent the same and the affect/effects and people that play arent the same ECT, but we take a look at COD series... most perticularly on MW2 and its baby brother BO, i mean, when BO first came out i thought that MW2 would be completely empty and ignored but its not :), so i think that its all a matter of the future........... and i also think that if Vietnam increaes rapidly we can still look at the COD division for some advice because if im not wrong, they support later vesions of COD and newer versions.

Most everyone will be playing Vietnam for the first couple weeks after it releases and normal BC 2 will see a decline in players I am sure, but after the newness wears off and you know the maps well and all it will become less enticing and I think we will see people start floating back and forth playing both of them depending on what their mood is that day. Nostalgic for Vietnam, or current for modern weapons and vehicles.

Like any new game, people will usually flock to it for the first few days and play only that game. In this case, Vietnam. Although some people just won't buy Vietnam and they'll have to stick with BC2. It'll be a mix.

I'm pretty sure BC2 will do fine. It's released new maps for free and is getting an expansion pack with a whole new setting and maps. If Black Ops didn't kill it, and it hasn't, it'll be around for a good while. At least until we get Battlefield 3.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw another expansion before B3.

I agree with mayhem, and look at older games like DoD:S and CS:S. Those 2 games havent made anything new in years! (excluding updates). And I think if Dice were to allow users to create their own maps it would have way more people playing

im going with both. Vietnam will be a new and exciting thing for bc2 as an expansion, but yet, the game has only limited things in it and not as much as wat regular bc2 has, i think people will get a little tired of vietnam from time to time since they only have 4 maps(5 when unlocked) and bc2 has alot of different maps, but hey im sure theyll add more things to both games, so i think theyll be pretty good both ways :) ill be playin both to keep both game servers up and runnin for our division :) try atleast :)

Yeah I agree that for first few weeks Vietnam will be really popular while BC2 will lose some players but over time I'm gonna want my m95 back so I'll play both.
