December 2010 Edition

It is that time of the year. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! It is our sincerest wish that everyone has had the opportunity to finish making their lists and checking them twice, because we know that we did. As always we have many things happening within our community. We have been busy before the holidays, and possibly during them as well, with the many things that we would like to give our community to do.

Personnel Service Center (PSC)

During the past month in the PSC we had a successful Meet'N Greet in the MOD Division. Just a reminder to new e ranked members, the events are for you, be sure to join in on the fun and learn a little more about eGO. We also just wrapped up the Counter Strike Source Sharpshooters Contest. Thank you to all those who participated, and congratulations to the winners:

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (BC2)

It was a heated scrim, =(eGO)= was in an epic stalemate with the Angels of Death clan on Nelson Bay Rush mode. We kept trying to hold them back, but the AOD guys pushed us back all the way to the final objective. All they had to do was destroy one more objective and they would've won. We dug deep, picking off whoever dared to rush the point. Inevitably, there were too many of them and they armed it.

Call of Duty (CoD)

The Call of Duty (CoD) Division would like to welcome back Vicious as a Division Leader (DL). Ed has always been a major supporter, and helped us set up and keep Black Ops feet beneath it. The majority of the bugs have been dealt with in, and we are ecstatic with the turnout and eGO support for the game. The developers did a poor job of including admin support, so, if you have any admin issues, please find a member of CoD Leadership for help.

Counter Strike: Source (CS:S)

After many long hours of planning and work the Counter Strike: Source (CS:S) Sharpshooter Tournament, sponsored by the Personnel Service Center (PSC), came to a close on Saturday. The tournament was to highlight the sniping skills of CS:S players, and it delivered. iamevilbear and Ill Legend, responsible for the plugin work and management respectively, were very excited to see that everyone had fun. They were gratified by the interest in future competitions of a similar nature.

Day of Defeat: Source (DoD:S)

As always, we have been extremely busy here at the Day of Defeat: Source (DoD:S) Division. First and foremost, the DoD:S Leadership would like to thank everyone wholeheartedly for your efforts in bringing new members into the community. Recruiting numbers have risen at a meteoric rate, having increased nearly 800% in 3 months! A special congratulations goes out to Bole, who was the number 1 recruiter, not only in the DoD:S Division but in the whole of the EdgeGamers Organization (eGO). His efforts have earned him a copy of the new Call of Duty: Black Ops game, and we hope he will use it to support our new Black Ops servers.

Read more DoD:S: here.

EVE Division (EVE)

While we like to talk a lot about the combat portion of EVE, EVE isn't all about blowing up NPC ships or PVPing in low sec. One of the less talked about aspects of EVE, but also one of the most important aspects is the industrial side of the game. EGO's subtle turtle describes it best in the following little story:

Modification Division (MOD)

Avast thar scalawags! Hoist the mizzen and run up the Jolly Roger. The Pirates Vikings & Knights II server is now up ye scurvy dogs. So plot these on yer treasure map and point yer compass to 208.43.76.154:27015 to join the scourge of the high seas, the MOD Division, in some plunderin' & pillagin'.

Below is our current load out of Black Ops Servers:

EDGEGAMERS.ORG HC DEMNoSpawnKilling
EDGEGAMERS.ORG HC S&D
EDGEGAMERS.ORG 24/7 NUKE Server Red
EDGEGAMERS.ORG 24/7 NUKE Server Blue

Just sort all of the servers and look for our name, and you will be able to continue fraggin' with your friends at Edgegamers Organization!

Just to squash any fears or rumors, we are not letting go of any COD4 Servers, and will fully support the game as we have been in the past. As always, you can find our G's and O's to help anyone in need of admin help in COD4. So, for you Black Ops players, don't neglect your old home in COD4.

If anyone is interest in more information on recruiting, or would like to join our recruiting team, please contact Blue Stealth. We will be handing out more prizes and awards for our top recruiters, so stay tuned!

All of us should be proud! We are keeping our servers filled, and have some great members who constantly help start the servers up from a lull. Currently, the division has 4 out of 6 servers in the Top 50, with Avalanche leading the way. Keep up the great work! We do ask, if you happen to have your computer on overnight, to please idle in any of the slow servers to help with getting them populated.

As a last bit of an addendum, currently there is a Divisional Roll-Call taking place. If you have not signed it, please head on over to DoD:S General Forums and click on the sticky labeled "DoD:S November 2010 Roll Call". It's outcome will help us as we mull over certain issues.

And finally, we wish you all a Safe and Happy Holiday Season!
Best Wishes from your very own, DoD:S Leadership!

Greetings and salutations! Hail and well met I say good sire! Insurgency World at War sallies forth on the 18th of December. Interested parties need rally around a standard and affix their names in the Book of the Realm (also known as the INS sign-up thread).

And if I knew how to talk like a Viking I'd be doing that now. So let's all pretend I sound 7' tall and blond when I say that the 2v2 League for Insurgency is now running. Check out the action and sign up if you dare in the official 2v2 League thread. Something something Thor's hammer.

The competition roster reached around 100 players, and everyone involved knew that it was going to be an ordeal to get in the top three. One great example of this was the case of Geno-knight, an eGO ranked admin, who also happens to be on the CS:S competitive team; Geno-knight ended up with just one kill shy of placing in the top three when the knight lost out to California#1.

The battle for the top spot was an exciting affair. After a pretty evenly matched battle in the first half of finals, Bubblemonkey finally beat out Awpsoleet by going on somewhat of a rampage. Bubblemonkey, who is also on the CS:S competitive team, truly showed off some impressive skills, and seemed pretty pleased with his $100 gift card. Overall, the tournament was highly successful and competitive, and hopefully there will be more to come in the future.

They defended the armed objective like an iron curtain, and for a minute there, it looked like we've lost. If not for the brave and daring effort of LOCOLAPTOP, we've would've lost. LOCO defused the objective, we all dug deep and just pushed them back for what felt like an intense 10 minutes and eGO won the scrim with =(eGO)= - 2 and Angels of Death - 1.

In other news: The BC2 Map Pack 7 was just released and the new maps are on our servers. The Regular Rush server has been changed to the 24/7 HC Oasis server. BC2: Vietnam will be released on the 21st, pre-order is up on STEAM and the EA-store for a 3 day head start (the 18th). BC2 SPECACT DLC skins are out on STEAM and EA-store.

EVE Division News

While we like to talk a lot about the combat portion of EVE, EVE isn't all about blowing up NPC ships or PVPing in low sec. One of the less talked about aspects of EVE, but also one of the most important aspects is the industrial side of the game. EGO's subtle turtle describes it best in the following little story:

Space is vast. Its inky blackness stretches on and on, silent and deep. But it is not empty. Far from it.
Deep in the void are rocks, huge floating remnants of galactic events long past. Perhaps here planets collided, perhaps stars exploded, perhaps....something else. But now, here they are, studded in mineral deposits, waiting for a well equipped and suitably brave soul to come find and put them to use.

Here we find our brave pilots, with giant ships purposely built for devouring these space rocks, these asteroids. From tiny frigate class hulls on up to ore crunching Exhumer class Hulks, these ships mine the foundations of New Eden. It is on the minerals torn from the asteroids that all activity in Eve is based. No star ship, no weapon, no space station would exist without the work of the miners.

The pilots of eGO are not all bloodthirsty, battle-hardened warriors. As we speak, eGO miners are hard at work in the unknown, searching for and exploiting the bounty of space. Of course, no eGO pilot flies alone: monolithic Orcas, industrial command ships, lumber through space, providing the miners with crucial boosts to their yields, and hauling the raw ore to the eGO station for later refinement. Far from the asteroid belt, eGO combat pilots patrol the skies, insuring safety for the vulnerable mining ships.

Anchored around the eGO owned station are more tools of industry: assembly arrays for ships, components and ammunition turn the refined minerals into supplies to be used by the corporation or sold on the player market. A steady stream of industrial haulers can be seen at times, moving materials to and from Empire Space, feeding the growing machine that is eGO's Eve Division.

Interested in joining eGO in space? Come join us in the Eve division forums, on Ventrilo, or PM an Eve member, and we'd love to give you a 21 day trial!
