So What's Your Game of the Year?

2010 was actually a pretty good year for gaming. With great games coming out on all the systems and across all the genres.


So the question is what was your favorite game this year? What game stood out among all the other games that came out this year? And more importantly why did you choose this game?

Console: God of War 3
PC: Dragon Age: Origins

Console: Red Dead Redemption
PC: Team Fortress 2 (they pretty much reinvented the game since its first release)

Bad Company 2 + Vietnam.

War doesn't get any more awesome.

At least until we get more Battlefield.

It's a toss-up between Mass Effect 2 or Red Dead Redemption for consoles.

For PC, my picks would be either Civ 5 or Fallout: New Vegas.

This has been a great year for gaming, and because of it I'm going to divide up my picks so I can recognize some games that won't get recognized by any other means:

Wii Game of the Year: Monster Hunter Tri
Hands down the best game on the Wii. If you have a Wii and are looking for an incredibly deep and challenging game, this is it.

XBox360/PS3 Game of the Year: Red Dead Redemption
What an amazing game, too big for its own good. Loved everything about it (except the ending).

PC Game of the Year: I only bought two new PC games this year so my judgment might be flawed, but for now I would say Civilization V takes the cake.

Arcade Game of the Year: Pac Man CE DX. (XBLA and PSN)
It blew me away. Say what you want, this reinventing of Pac Man is incredible. You haven't played a good Pac Man game until you've chowed down on at least 50 ghosts with one power pellet. The game is a rush!

Honorable Mentions:
Magic Sword - My favorite arcade game of all time brought to the consoles with Final Fight. Win.
Splinter Cell Conviction - Those Deniable Ops kept me coming back for more and more.
Bad Company 2 - I spent a lot of time playing this online on my 360. Had a blast!

MassEffect 2 wipes the board clean for me.

Starcraft II, for the ability to draw in thousands of fans every day for multiple tournys, streams and shine as a true competitive e-sport with established teams that get a payed salary. It's more than a game at this point.

Starcraft 2 for this year and next year because the awesome cannot be contain to just 1 year

Starcraft 2 - I love RTS's I think there amazing, and boy Sc2 may not beat WC3 Frozen Throne but the campaign is literally out of this world.

I'm considering calling it the best game I've ever played in my 15-year gaming career.
