Which is the best server to play on because today was my first time on Dod and i went on avalanche and it seemed pretty hard because , i just come from css remember so i am use'd to that and i find Dod pretty harder than css so which is the best server for me to practice on? , thanks guys , you know i luvv ya :P LOL <---:facewall:;)

DoD has a harder learning curve I think. I would say half of it is just learning the maps that you are going to be playing on, then the other half (or greater than half) is learning gun recoil and shooting (and tactical placement for MG's and Snipers when you get the chance) and all that good stuff.

It just takes time. You'll learn! Jump in a full server and keep playing!

STRAND. Hands down the best map with the best people.

Just try all of them. It will take some time to adapt coming over from CS:S. Jump into any of the servers, ask any of us for advice, we will be glad to help you out.

Personally Donner is my favorite and it's where I learned how to play the game. I personally would suggest Donner to start on as it's pretty straight forward and has a solid mix of close quarter and long range engagement.

Another suggestion I would make it to limit yourself to the riflemen class initially. The reason for this is that it is the most basic weapon and if you can master it, you can use anything else with a reasonable degree of skill.

Okay its pretty late now so i am going to try "Donner" as most of you recommend it , hope fully some of you will be on that server tomorrow , Thank You all!

The best way for you to get good is to get to know the maps, the hiding spots and the places where you have a clear line of fire. I'd suggest you play avalanche on the german team as this is the easiest you will get.

The recoil is crazy on DoD, it is important that you don't prone all the time but instead learn how to control it :) When you prone you will get killed because of your immobility, always keep moving!

Keep trying, DoD is a very hard game to learn but once you have the main skills you will find it lots of fun!
Good luck ;)

Play on the Donner server :) always good when you are a beginner and play with the thompson and learn the recoil ;)

Hey Virus, I would also recommend that you take a look at this and get yourself familiar with all the names. This way you will know what people are talking about on the servers when they say "MG in bench alley" or "Sniper in Apartments."

Each map has its own advantages and disadvantages, learning the guns is only 50% of this game. Im a Flash player which is known for constant grenade explosions, and hard pressed defenses of flags. The map is good for learning Assault, Support, and MG (Though Snipers and Riflemen are deadly on the map as well.)

Who has two thumbs and says Avalanche is the best server???

 <--------- This guy

this guy has the right idea. love me some Flash

Thanks Synergy.

But if Blue Stealth actually wants someone on Avalanche that means he only wants some easy pickings. Theres no denying that Avalanche is the worst map in the history of cartography. If youre starting off i would stay completely away from Avalanche (aka Ava, that lame map, suckfest, Blues Fortress of Solitude, Shirley) as it takes time to hate things properly. Lung and Compton have the right idea. You should head to Flash since thats where most of our noobs like to hang out. As for Anzio, we cool, and Argentan yeah we also cool but Argh as i like to call it, is usually empty. Strand is ok but ive been playing that map off and on for a while and i still get lost.

Anyways ill save you some time with a list of maps with notes:

Flash: For noobs.
Avalanche: Suckfest.
Donner: Semi-ok-ish.
Anzio: Pretty cool.
Argentan: Cool (when full).
Strand: Awesome.

P.S. Its ok to close this thread now since any additional comments would only be redundant. :P
