I think it really works so well because it has SO MANY visual cues for music that pretty much anything will match up with a bunch.
That Super Mario World one just happened to match tons of them, but Meet the Sniper is pretty inexplicable...
My favorite cue is the reaper "leg" squashing the camera, it just fits so well with certain musical movements.

I feel like I'm overdoing this.

The one thing that's terrible about this trailer: when Shepard reaches the camera, it doesn't turn black and fade in the logo, just randomly pops up with the logo. That's the one part that could make music fit better.
