(no saying T-Mobile sucks, just identifying my work backround)

I'm a new member here and would like to offer my technical assistance with cellphones in this thread (I do this for a living). If you have any questions about cellular repair, modding, general questions, feel free to ask!

It's a good idea, but this forum doesn't really need too much assistance with their phones. They'll either go to the store and get it fixed by them, or they'll go to another forum that is known for that kind of thing.

Let's see how good you really know your stuff.

So I just got a new phone today. The Samsung Moment (yes, I know it's old, but I got it as the 5th replacement of my Hero in a little over 6 months), and everything is up to date, running 2.1 update 1, yadda yadda, and my market place won't work. It says it is having errors connecting to the server. What do? How fix?

And the plot thickens! I just tried connecting to WiFi, and it was unable to search for networks. Perhaps I received a faulty networking chip? lol. What luck.

Isn't T-Mobile supposed to suck in America? It's pretty sucky here in the UK too.

Android ftw though.
 
o my bad i didn't really read his whole post.....kinda just inferred he was asking ppl if they needed help with their t-mobile phones and upgrades to new phones/lines etc....

anyways, sounds like a software issue for your moment. When i first moved to 2.2 on my samsung captivate (galaxy s) the wifi didn't really work. I would do a restore on your phone.

Or you could just root it and download a better ROM

Make the move to a 4G phone soon :)

Can't, no money.
Also, I tried doing a Factory Reset and it freezes before starting up.

It doesn't suck, but it definitely depends on where you live.

Honestly, if you live in NY or long island/five boroughs. Coverage is good from like every carrier; tmobile, at&t, verizon, sprint.

I like to have SIM cards so switching phones is a lot easier/worldwide which verizon doesn't have except for like the Blackberries and world phone versions of the DROID.

LTE is gonna be a big factor for my next phone, im gonna guess AT&T is gonna roll out their LTE when the next iPhone comes out in June which goes right in line with their schedule so im gonna wait and see what happens with them since im on AT&T currently.

Verizon just rolled out their LTE and phones are already announced during CES this past week.

Bring it back for another one haha?? Just keep complaining and maybe they'll give you something better.

I mean, its already been your 5th phone, i'd be pretty furious and demand the best and brand new phone.

No, this is what i got because I've had 4 replacements of my first phone (the Hero).
Pretty pathetic if this phone is really defective.
 
only verizon and MetroPCS use LTE

ATT and Tmo are HSPA+

Sprint is WiMAx
 
I've never really looked into rooting properly. I've read about how to do it and stuff, seems pretty straight forward but I can't think of anything I'd like to do with my HTC Desire that I can't already. Hmm.
 
TMo is HSPA+ for sure.

I am fairly certain that ATT is as well, but i could be wrong.


LTE is nice because it penetrates (twss) buildings and stuff better than Wimax and HSpA+ do, but it is slower than either of those
