Ask the T-Mobile guy!

They are only hspa+ for now. Its like a fake 4G that they are trying to pass off. LTE is not the slowest of them all its actually the fastest and they get real world speeds of around 10mbs or more. I'm on att hspa+ right now and get about 3mbs down. LTE is fast lol period

you are right, ATT is LTE.

Tmo HSPA+ is a lot faster than that o_O

and Wimax/LTE isn't even 4G at all....

ATM, we don't have a "real" 4G

LTE is real 4G, Wimax is also somewhat. HSPA+ isn't because its the same 3G HSPA just tweaked to give faster down and up speeds. HSPA+ is based off the same platform that we are all using for 3G right now.

T-mobiles HSPA+ is somewhat slow -.- they give theoretical speeds that are higher than LTE and WiMax but in real life, they are tons slower than LTE.

HSPA+ for both T-mobile and AT&T right now are hovering around 3mb/s down. Wimax is also hovering around the same speeds but i think they are going to upgrade it to make it faster.

LTE is getting real world speeds of around 10 mb/s and is the true 4G.

LTE just came out for verizon a few weeks ago. It should be coming out on AT&T before this summer.

I dont care if it is real 4g or not, as long as it is faster than 3g :facewall:

Not that it matters, but no. Real 4g doesn't exist yet, at least not in the real world. Marketing departments can call it 4g til they are blue in the face but it doesn't make it so.

mm i see, well its being called 4G anyway =/

The first LTE's are only the first step anyway, there are supposed to be upgrades and upgrades to keep boosting the speeds.....we'll see how everything goes

Well good question, its more of a "coverage" issue with us. Where we have coverage we have SUPERIOR internet speeds (which would be excellent on that phone). Verizon has superior coverage over us and ATT, and their internet is going to be soon to follow with their LTE (which im not sure the iPhone will support) which is supposed to launch with them Feb 13.

I own this phone personally, and live in a HSPA+ area. I did a speedtest when I took the G2 and myTouch 4G home, and the G2 tested in my area at maximum 6.10mbit down / 1.70mbit up. My phone tested 5.89 mbit down / 1.70mbit up. You get a slight edge with the 4G phones, it doesn't really blow it out of the water, not even the new Nexus S made by samsung is HSPA+ We will have some amazing devices coming out between march and may!

I asked my friend who works at SPRINT (I know a person for every carrier), I was told that she's asked that many times a day, it's a known issue right now between SPRINT and the google market. There are some possible workarounds (make a second dummy google account) (clearing market data) link here:

We are the #4 carrier in the USA. If you're not first you're last (in every sense of the word here). However, there are many reasons that would a make a carrier not be your personal preference (billing issues, coverage, internet speed, phone selection, price)

We generally acquire a lot of customers because T-Mobile is the value carrier between them all, but they are working on getting the edge with HSPA+ and the expansion of 42mbit speeds. T-Mobile was at CES 2011 showing off their ZTE Rocket webstick catching 28mbit down! If I lived in a covered area, personally I would choose T-Mobile as my provider because my personal preference is phones / internet speed. Good question though!

Good thoughts! T-Mobile hasnt really decided (what I mean here is a corporate announcement) on their path after HSPA+. We are going to milk that baby big time because it's quite simple, and cheap to add backhaul, increase compression methods, or upgrade computer equipment at the tower. LTE (long term evolution) is a great option for sure because it's new physical hardware that will bring FAST speeds, and allow for further revisions on it (like what T-Mobile is doing now) to compete!
 
The 4G wars between companies right now is too hot to handle. In order to not get caught up within that war, we must all first look at the definition of what 4G is, or what makes it 4G. The only people credible to define this standard, is the ITU (International Telecommunications Union). Recently, they changed their standard one month ago, on what 4G is, which actually includes HSPA+ because it "provides a substantial level of improvement in performance and capabilities on 3rd generation equipment".

I fixed the Market not working.
But the WiFi is still unable to search for a network.
