Servers laggin more often?

Well. There can be a few problems/solutions to your problem with latency.

1) You could be far away from where the servers are located. From what I understand, we still host Dust2, Office, and Highschool in Texas, and Dust1, Jail, and the Event server in Seattle. If you don't live near those locations, then that could be one cause of your latency.

2) Your graphics card could be out of date. Some people never really check their graphics card or anything to see if they are up-to-date. Maybe you should check that, and while your at it, check to see if your computer could usea cleaning. That could also cause some strong latency issues.

3) You could have a bad internet connection. Check to see if your internet connection is low. If so, then try to upgrade to a better internet connection, and not the Dial-Up. That could be a HUUUUGE reason why your latency is spiked so high.

So, if any of this is NOT you, then yes, maybe the servers were updating or having a hard day. BUT! If these are one of your problems, I would fix it and then try the servers to see if you still have that problem. :)

You can upgrade your pc all you want but if you still have a horrible internet connection your going to lag.

And btw servers have been fine every time I have been on there recently.

I'm guessing its your internet connection since you have a good upgraded PC.
I have an average internet connection and a reg PC. The server rarely lag for me.

Its the same for me which since im from Antartica, is always rubbish ;)

The Jail server experienced a ridiculous lag yesterday, for about 15 minutes, then decided to crash..But besides that, the Jail server is running as smooth as a baby's ass, from my end.

I think the Jail server runs on the same box as some other server, but I am uncertain.
This could explain the random lag spikes you're getting.
But like I said, A-OK from my end. :)

as already stated server lag is caused more often then not by internet connection and graphics card.....check your fps when you run threw 4-5 smokes and you'll see what i mean. All servers will have trace lag now and then, means servers nice and full :) , if they were empty then you could run your 128 video on the old intel chip....point is 95% plus is from users end not server.

You guys blame it on internet connection and such but you will see it eventually I was on dust2 yesterday and everyones ping went up over 200 and everyone was complaining its not just one person experiencing it.

If everyone's ping to the server shoots up, its a datacenter issue and will return back to normal within a few minutes.

I noticed this a couple times this week but for the most part the D2 server is running pretty good.
