binds! binds! binds!

I have a key bound to the "I am charged" voice command, I find it can be useful for making the enemy think you have an ubercharge ready, and trick them into falling back.

edit: protip for those of you up and coming medics :P

way to give out your secret hahah

I would recommend it, its an all around great mouse imo. I use it for starcraft 2 as well and not sure how I used to play with out it. Its got 5600 dpi which is a a lot faster than I had before this one (there are a few other mice out there with higher dpi, but you dont need it.) The number pad on the thumb is awesome and takes a little getting used to, but it comes with some little rubber stickers you can place on the number pad so you can learn the lay out of the numbers. I dont use them any more, Ive had the mouse for a while now and im used to it. The mouse will run you about 70-80 $, which is well worth it. You can look into it and see some vids about it here... http://www.getimba.com/naga-molten/videos.html

I'll definitely consider it but I might wait for the one I have now to break.

oh that's evil :D

Damn that looks nice. Would you recommend it? I've been using a Microsoft Intellimouse since I first started gaming and I've always loved it.

All Razer's Mice are Great, Razer Naga is good for performing macros since it has 17 buttons and has nice DPI (Epic edition has 5600 dpi). I bought Razer Mamba past month and I highly recommend it.

Well, right now I'm using only a bind: F --> Jeers. I love the heavy saying "Stupid Stupid Stupid!" or spy with "What a disaster!"

I have a question related to bindings, I see that there are many .cfg files on my tf2 directory and some are named with the class name (like spy.cfg, soldier.cfg, etc). My question is: if you select a class, tf2 loads the cfg for that class automatically or I have to load the cfg file by myself?

hello all of you tf2'rs

ellen here seeing if anyone out there uses or has used binds.

if so. why do u use them?

what are the pros and cons.

some consider binds as cheats. do you? if so why?

A bind is within the constraints of the game, it allows users to cause the push of a key to perform an action.

1. A bind is an action bound to a certain key.
2. A script is a series of actions performed in sequence bound to a certain key.
3. A bind allows players to attach aliases, allowing them to bind individual actions to be performed one after the another.
Hence
A series of actions performed in sequence bound to a single key is therefore a bind.

Therefore, by extension, a script is therefore a bind, and is perfectly legal.

I use scripts for a lot of things, I have a script for auto-disguise, switching between pri and secondary only, toggle scripts which allow for stab and sap, most of these are used to help simplify the process of performing otherwise mundane actions.

Or it may just result in them shooting you anyway as they would normally :O

I have a logitech g5, which looks like this:

I have in-game voice binded to one and vent binded to the other.
Other than that i have admin commands, recruiting spam, and explode binded. I DO switch between dpi resolution a lot though depending on the situation.

If I ever get RCON access I'm going to bind a sm_slay "=(eGO)=™spidEY" for fun.

Yes :)

TF2 is supposed to autoload the class cfg when you select that class. Very rarely mine will glitch and not load all the way, it usually happens right after an update, and I'll have to execute it manually with the exec command.

Actually there is a button on the bottom of the naga mouse that you can push to allow you to double the amount of buttons u can use to macro. One side uses the keypad numbers next to the arrow keys while the other side uses the numbers over the letters of the keyboard, so you can have well over 24 macros bound to your naga at one time.

I mean besides the basic ones provided.

I have pretty much all my keypad buttons bound to specific voice commands. I'd post what mine are but I've lost the config, luckily it must have been saved to the steam cloud. I got it from the Unofficial Wiki back in the day when it was the only one but it's since been deleted. This seems like a good reference though. I especially recommend binding the "Thanks!" command.

wow. thanks boys.

after playing the whole weekend. i figured out that its probably easier to learn each character with the standard default buttons. im a purist. what can i say. my husband is still enlisted and i was a real "medic!!" (corpsman) in the navy. so. i dont believe in shortcuts.

the reason i ask if binds are considered cheats is because sometimes there are people on the server that do rocket jumps and sticky jumps that do minimal damage to themselves and if i do a double sticky jump a second to early. i turn into mush.

anyway. lots of good feedback. all of them are great. thanks guys!!

You may want to check what weapon they are using, steam is selling a sticky and a rocket launcher which does no damage to the user. So they can pretty much rocket jump or sticky jump where the only damage they recieve is fall damage.

First off this. Way back when I first started I had rocket and sticky jump scripts but now I got rid of them and my jumps are actually better.

Dude, I saw a Naga At Fry's the other day for like 45$... I was so sad I couldn't get it haha xD

About binds... I'm fine with maybe doing a chat bind, since it just saves you time really...
The "I'm Charged" thing is kind of neat as well... I might use that ;)
But script's and macros, that sort of thing... Nah.
I used to admin on an MMO, and we had no end of trouble with macro users. It's not cheating..... Technically.
But when say, a macro or script shoots, switches guns, or does something combat-related for you... No Bueno.

Valve could remove them if they wanted to.
Speaking from experience, It's not likely that this would be possible. Detecting Macros involves things like checking for consistent delay times between actions (Spam / Firing Macro)
which is very difficult to detect if there is ANY stutter/alternated delay time in the macro/Script.
I won't wall of text you guys, but that's my two cents ^_^
