Check out this brilliant piece of marketing. The first video sets up the experiment:

Ahah, I can't wait for it to come out, Let's hope it can run on my computer :D

ok those are moms of gamers correct?

why are all of them so old?

is the average gamer 30 years old?

Because you're not cool unless you do things your parents don't approve of.

i loved the last one "um...so am i suppose to say like i dis-approve or approve or medium dis-aprove well um i dis-approve but its not at the bottom of the list"

then its like DEAD SPACE 2 your moms gonna medium dis approve

I really didn't like the campaign. I don't need my mom (or anyone elses) to approve or disapprove of Dead Space 2 for me to want to buy it. I bought and played the first one I'm going to play the second one. If you show most non gamers a game like Dead Space (the first one featured evil fetuses) they would have a similar reaction.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't think it was effective. /shrug And as mentioned above, most gamers are in their 30's

I'm pretty sure being a gamer or not has very little influence over how someone would react to the content of Dead Space and Dead Space 2. It's all about ones sensibilities and how easy it is to offend those sensibilities. Just because you're not a gamer doesn't mean that a simple survival horror is going to offend you.

Also, the video has little to do with parental approval or disprove of the game. It's simply a tongue-in-cheek online featurette that the EA marketing team cooked up to push Dead Space 2.

#1024 made me giggle.

But here's the issue, DS2 is clearly marked 18+. It's a gorefest that's based around nothing but tearing aliens limb from limb (imo not scary at all) but the ad's are clearly intended for the -14 group.
What, were, they, thinking?

That's the reason I have never played Dead Space. I'd crap my pants, I can't handle anything that gory/scary. What's with everything puking on each other, that IMO is just messed up.
