For those of you who don't live in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area, there is a city located in the southwest portion of New Jersey called Camden. It is the county seat of Camden County (the county in which i reside) Starting tomorrow 1/18/2011, Armageddon comes to this city. Why do you ask? Well, due to the extreme budget issues that face many New Jersey cities, the city of camden is going to lay off ABOUT 1/2 of it's Police Force and ABOUT 1/3 of it's Fire Department. The City of Camden has repeatedly ranked amongst the 10 Most Dangerous Cities in America, this year ranking at #2....and they're going to lose half of their cops. This city burns on a daily basis....and they're going to lose a third of their firefighters. I really do feel bad for the people who live in that city.

So, if there is ever a day that you think you have it bad...just remember what's about to happen in Camden.

I live in Trenton and yes, Camden is a god awful place. Stay far far away.

Lol. I saw this on fox5 news at 10. That truly does suck. I've only frequented north jersey, never had any reason to venture south.. (Newark and jersey city are experiences in themselves)

I've been to bad bad areas in brooklyn, certain parts of the island, etc.. But nothing feels more depressing than taking a stroll through most of Newark. I've heard nothing great of Camden.

Good luck.

point is I haven't seen pictures of urban decay this unbelievably bad since I first saw that pic of the South Bronx back in the day. (Even though some of the bronx still sucks today).. I've visited some bad neighborhoods, a few in new jersey, but damn. camden sucks lol

Some parts of New Orleans are actually WORSE than people say. Drive through parts of the 9th, 17th, 8th, etc. Outside the French Quarter is a no-go, the CBD isn't bad. Martin Luther King, Josephine and the like - stay away.

Scariest place I've been was actually the cheap housing they build by the airport. They stole the cigarette out of my friends mouth. One pulled up his shirt, and lets just say we don' take that way to the mall for lunch anymore.

Just if your ever decide to come down here for Mardi Gras or something. Still better than pre-katrina though. My family tries to avoid the city mostly. My dad works and comes home. that is it. The parades are much better though.

Camden is gonna need to call in the Gaurd soon haha
