I've been seeing a lot of posts involving NVIDIA card issues. There was recently a huge class action suit against them and you may be able to get your hardware replaced for free. Info after the jump!

FTA: Among the symptoms exhibited by affected systems were:
Distorted or scrambled video on the notebook computer screen
No video on the notebook computer screen even when the notebook computer is on
Random characters, lines or garbled images on the notebook computer screen
 
Only HP and Dell were doing replacements if it was still within warranty. TSMC provided defective bump material which then supplied the chips to Nvidia. Course as many people found out the heat would cause it to expand and the cooling would make it contract and this done overtime would disconnect the GPU package from the motherboard causing artifacts, black screens. If your unit is OOW you can go get it repaired and get reimbursed from the settlement ONLY if it is listed on the Nvidia settlement page.
