In the market for a new headset!

Well short version: I'm looking to buy a new headset. I will not under any circumstances pay more than $135. I prefer circumaural earcups, as well.

I have a Creative Fatal1ty MkII now and it's decent...good sound quality but it's not very comfortable.


I've heard that the Razer headsets are super comfy.

So I started looking at the Megalodon. Pricey, but some cool features. But then I saw the Razer Carachias, which some friends said was excellent quality and half the price.

I'm totally open to any ideas or suggestions, so I was curious what all of you know about headsets. Between the Megalodon and Carachias, which would you get and why? Or do you have other suggestions for something with a mix of excellent audio quality (both games and music) and comfort?

i have the inland 6000 with bass boost, cost 20 bucks and sound surprisingly good save the extra money to upgrade something else or get a new game
 
I had a G35 and currently use a G930, super comfy and great sound. Both are superb units. The mic has some issues on the G930 but being able to walk around the house with my headset on makes it a flaw I'm willing to overlook.
 
As expected, people just talk about what headsets they have. In all fairness, it doesn't seem like there's really much difference anyways. If you've got a store where this is possible, try them on and listen to them. If *you* think they're comfortable and *you* think they sound good, then go for it. And remember that as a general rule of thumb, if it's got a microphone attached the overall quality's not as good. Real companies producing headphones for people who work in audio for a living will make higher quality stuff since gamers really aren't as critical.
 
also you come out alot cheaper ordering from newegg or compusa vs going to best buy or similar store. i went to try a few sets on then when i found what i liked went online and ordered it
 
My vote is for the Corsair HS1s. They are insanely comfortable with their memory foam pads, A little more comfy then the carcharias in fact! The surround sound they provide is amazing, you can hear exactly where people are shooting from, and exactly where their footsteps are. The sound quality blows the carcharias away, And yes, I own both...
