Warning Pubbers

I know this may sound pretty stupid, but its sad I feel I have to put this up as a thread. I've been noticing a few people(admins and non-admins) getting hostile over server rule violations, and it's kind of driving me nuts.

1st. Dont threaten them with kicks or bans!
-This only aggrevates the situation and makes pubbers who are following the rules feel unwelcome(they are playing to have fun. not to get regulated). I've personally watched servers go just about empty because of members and/or admins doing this. Politely warn them(remember to say please) and if they continue then kick them. If you are an =(e)= find an admin on vent. There is more than likely someone on that is willing to help you. And even if you are unable to contact an admin there are ways to deal with them.

2nd. We need to be more friendly about addressing rule violations.
- I know "punks" may get on our nerves and disrupt gameplay, but I can't tell you how many times I've warned people and after being polite and friendly to them they turn around to be respectful pubbers on our servers and continue to come back daily.


It's all about how we address the individual. We can avoid alot of trouble if we simply remain friendly to those who are causing the problem. 7 out of 10 times people find it hard to be rude when the person they are verbally attacking is being polite. NO BS! If we continue on this path of being rude to pubbers we will eventually find ourselves with empty servers.

very true, ive actually seen the kick/ban threats happen on css servers at times :/

edgegamers policy is to warn without threats politely. My usual phrase is, "watch the language on eGO servers please, [name]." if that doesnt' work, then i go to kick. Threatening only gets people angry and leads to raging, and us looking unprofessional.

Administrators should always try to remain clam. When Admins loose he /she cool then they loose the respect of everyone, that's when they need to unplug and leave the server.
Admins only try to keep peace on the servers and also they will try to enjoy the game, Admins are prefect, some may claim they are perfect; but they are not. Also they sometime make mistakes.
Good Administrators will try he / she best for the better good of the unit / players on the server. By being professional and using common respect will travel a long way with public. Respect is not given; it is earned. Treat others as you want them treat you this will go a long way.

All eGO administrators keep up the great work you doing for the unit

We should try this idea I have learned through the police academy...first verbal dialogue....if that doesn’t work I pull out my O.C. or tazer....if that doesn’t work I am at strikes with my baton....then ultimately if that doesn’t work I pull out the "heater" and start pumping some rounds....lol

*bump* Yes this thread is 8 months old but this information is still as useful now as ever. Also MillerTime worded this quite well so bumping it saves me the effort of retyping basically the same message Just a reminder guys. Keep up the good work out there.

Definitely true, I completely agree. I've noticed in not only Battlefield servers, but TF2 servers and CSS servers that admins act like this quite a bit. Admin is to help eGO continue to grow and stay successful and keep punks off the server, not to satisfy someones control problem.
