Custom maps?

Hey, I was wondering if ego has a need/want for custom map making or editing. I thoroughly enjoy spending many hours designing maps but its usually a hassle trying to get people to help test them and try them out when their finished.

So does ego have any sort of need for custom map making? In DoD:S or any other games? For example I could design a training ground with specific parts for specific exorcises, or a home base for ego's division, if not I would design maps just to play on which can turn out awesome with help and suggestions from everyone.

So what do you think? Thanks for reading.

while I see no immediate need for custom maps, I will say that we would be more than happy to assist a member of our community to test their creations.

If you are interested in mapping for us, the above mentioned themes could be beneficial to us. I would also add that our realism events are a huge draw, so maps geared towards that sort of play would be ideal.

Let me know if you have other questions

Great. I think my first project will probably be designing a division head quarters for you guys to look at, and decide if you like. That sort of thing should appeal to the realism crowd, and provide a fun/interesting way to train/practice the smaller aspects of realism fighting. Such as taking orders, providing covering fire, and throwing grenades through harder to reach places and such.

That is, if I include training grounds in it. So my questions(to everyone) are...

Would you like me to try this?
Would you like it to include training areas?
Would you like it to be modeled after any real life military grounds?
Would you like it to be actually playable in a pub, as in have a full set of capture points, and fair advantages to both sides?

And finally, does anyone have any other requests/suggestions?

PS: I design maps mostly for the experience of making fun/awesome playing environments, so its fine if no one uses it, it just makes it more fun if you do, and thanks Blue for volunteering.

Ive had some awesome ideas that im too lazy and/or incompetent enough to carry out. Basically make a map with the best combination of elements from maps we enjoy, or a hybrid frankenmap.

actually...a map with a training ground sounds pretty awesome...id help ya test that out

yes stormy...your idea sounds cool to :P...depends on which elements of which maps you were thinking about using..

We actually have a "mappers only" section in our forums if that helps.

oops lol thanks for showing me that. Well I guess it's ok that its here because I want every ones opinions.

Cool man, thanks for volunteering. The more the better.

sound like a great idea, i have been wondering if you can open the stock maps and cut parts out, then add them to a new map. I thought it would be a cool map to include the best parts of all the maps for training/a hybrid map like you said. If its possible and allowed that is. Ill have to look into it.

Great, i wish i could help but im better at telling people what to do. :P

I am down to help test any maps, ever. Just add me on steam or something, and I'll likely be able to get with you about maps.

hey! I've always been looking for yaws to help anyone with map testing! I could send you a friend invite and then if you ever need help testing any maps as long as i have the game then I'm your man!

I would have a play around on new maps, always up for something a little different. One thought - and byt the way i know nothing about map creating!! If you are going to do spend some time on this why not see if stormy - or someone else, although he is the godfather of realism :) or maybe YSD - the history man - may be able to suggest some historical areas to use in realism.. as in areas where the wars were actually fought where it could be possible to re-create as a map.. As a thought i would say it would be awesome, no idea if it is feasible though!

I second this notion.

For sure guys... It's very possible, but sometimes hard to find pictures that help in designing such maps. I would like to create a few practice maps fist though so this would be a thing for the near future.

If any one is up for some research work into this sort of thing, I will design it if possible.
