Wanted to know if anyone wanted to talk about books. :P Yes, you just read it right. I am a fan of good, interesting literature.

NO, I don't mean Green Eggs and Ham. Real books only.

SPOILERS

I just finished A Tale of Two Cities yesterday. That book has the saddest ending I've ever read. :crying: I freaking teared when he said the last line. That cut me deep bros. I recommend this book to ANYONE. Amazing writings and a wonderfully interesting plot.

Just to make you tear up like women, I'll post the last line. I tear up jsut writing it.

"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to, than I have ever known."

Also, anyone share my love of distopia plots? I have read 1984 a minimum of 12 times. Farenheit 451 is also amazing. Both have very suspenseful endings. Although 1984's torture scene is the single greatest collection of words I've ever read. I love it. I felt as if I was watching Winston break at the hands of O'Briens far superior reasoning. I really want to go out and get Dies the Fire. I've heard it was really good.

Last but not least, read the Count of Monte Cristo. Best plot ever written, with one of the few characters I honestly felt was justified in his revenge. Buy the unabridged. It is over 1000 pages of freaking amazing writing.

lol...1984, the scourge of High School Seniors at the High School I went to. I've read it twice, though Orwell isn't my favorite.

If you like 1984, try Kafka's The Trial.

I'm reading Haruki Murakami's Dance Dance Dance at the moment.

That Dance Dance Dance books looks REALLY interesting.

I agree, all the senior complain about the book, when it is quite easy to comprehend. I found it to be extremely easy to parallel to history.

Also, anyone read Lolita? Don't want to seem creepy.

i enjoyed 1984. the book i had to read as a senior i hated was Brave New World

Tomorrow I'm going to pick up Brave New World, Dies the Fire, and Great Expectations. Can't wait. I'll probably re-read most of 1984 tonight.

I score higher on standardized tests for reading than most the seniors. I scored a 30 on my ACT for reading and I'm a freshman. I don't want to brag, I mean I feel bad when I say things like that.

I've been meaning to read Lolita, whatever top book list I see...Lolita seems to be near to top. Even though the subject matter is a little off.

Dance Dance Dance is pretty good so far, it the second Murakami that I've read. The first being Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World .

I agree, 1984 is a pretty easy to read book and most Seniors, in fact most High School students, will complain about everything they're assigned to read.

*Edit*

Oh, and I did a list of 20 Books I would recommended reading.

Tempted to get All the King's Men tomorrow too. Anyone read it? It is popular here due to it being Based on Huey P. Long, our former governor.
Your list extremely good to read. I may buy some after I finish all of these.

Also, I've always wanted to read Chuck Plaichunkc's (can't spell that) books very badly. They seem sick and disgusting. Can't wait!

Brave New World is one of my favorite books I have ever read.

But last book I read was Glamorama. Not one of Ellis' best work but interesting nevertheless(I love that word).

Depending on your tastes, all the books on the list are worth reading.

Palahniuk books are usually a trashy, but very entertaining read. He's pretty prolific, coming out with roughly a book a year, so here is rough list of what's worth reading:

Survivor
Choke
Lullaby
Rant

Fight Club is alright, but the movie is better. I've been told that Invisible Monsters was quite good...but the book is still collecting dust on my shelf.

All the King's Men is sitting somewhere in my house, I'll have to track it down and read it one of these days.

Seniors complain because we want to get out of high school and do bigger and better things, like get out of highschool! :D

Btw have fun talking about your books.

id like to take this thread in a more geeky direction.

anyone read the halo books?

i dont really mean the ones that are a rehash of the games though.

i really liked Ghosts of Onyx and The Cole Protocol

and one of the graphic novels (the one from marvel cant remember the name) was the most emotion and humanity ive felt from a comic book since reading watchmen

I remember reading one of them when the first HALO came out. It was kinda a prequel to how the Spartans where picked and trained.

Not a bad read. Kept me entertained and was easy to read. Funny thing about the book was when I played the latest HALO that came out it had a bunch of tie ins with the book in the game that made it just more enjoyable.

I've read Fall of Reach through Ghosts of Onyx. They were all entertaining, but Ghosts of Onyx was pretty weak...so I stop after that.

Entertaining yourself by reading books is truly the superior person's way of entertaining themselves :D

I enjoy many books. I few months ago I finished the Hunger Games trilogy. I am currently reading the 7th Artemis Fowl book.

Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged are must reads, even if you don't agree with Ayn Rand's philosophy.

Oh, and anything by Lovecraft really.

I'll agree to the Fountainhead it's was a good platform Rand's philosophy. I didn't like Atlas Shrugged, the book was long, monotonous and lacked subtlety.

Also, I agree with Lovecraft. The man was a brilliant author.
