If anything, upgrade your video card first.

Athlon 2's are still relatively new, and perform great for the price. It all depends on when, and how much you're willing to spend.

what he said. Vid card first, it's not a bad processor, but your vid card is old. Def old enough not to play black ops. Core i7 is a type of intel processor. Wich uses hyperthreading, shared L3 cach, etc etc. also, the memory controller is on the processor it self, so it can communicate faster with your memory. i have a core i7, and for the 1-2 months i have, i never had problems with it. For your video card, go for the 5870 in Crossfire, or the 5970 (if u have the money). If u like nvidia, a 460 will help u out great. Also, AMD/ATI drivers are bad. If u don't mind that your driver crashes sometimes, then go for AMD/ATI.

I'd say slayer's comments regarding amd drivers a bit off. I haven't had issues in the past 3 cards I've gotten from amd.

In your price range the only sensible thing to upgrade would be the video card, and because its a pre-built system, I would assume your power supply isn't very good/big enough.

I would suggest a ati 5770/6850 or a nvidia 460.

Changing your processor will do very little for gaming, compared to a new video card.

I have maybe 1 driver crash every 2 months.

I get more with my GT 240, but that card is folding 24/7, that doesn't really count.
