i know, i know this forum probably get a lot of these threads but for me its a special case. yea obviously i keep getting an error message on vista saying hl2.exe has stopped working. this happens every time i play a big map or a crazy map like phys maps or the maps u guys do during monday madness (strangely enough this doesn't happen on balloon race) i've updated the video drivers like you should and verified the cache files but seriously nothing works. i also stopped all unnecessary processes and apps and put the computer on full blown high performance everything. nothing.

What settings are you running in game? (high, med, low..) What kind of hardware do you have? (proc, ram, vid card)

PC: HP Pavillion D7
Vid Card: ATI Radeon Graphics

not much else to provide here. i actually haven't checked the video settings for tf2

I ask becuase TF2 can sometimes bog any system down pretty good (I have a pretty robust system and my FPS will significantly sometimes). Here is how I suggest you tackle this. First, if you are experiencing choppy gameplay before the crash, try lowering your in-game resolution, AA, and antisitrophy. Hopefully this will smooth out your gameplay and help reduce/eliminate the crashes.

i use win7 and expierence crashes to sometimes. When u launch the game, don't touch your pc. I mean, if your browser is open, don't go and go to a website while it starts, then is when i have a crash. Also, be more specific with your specs. U can download 'speccy'. it's a free program to see your specs.

Slayer, this helped me some (Spec wise). may not be exact, but its pry pretty close:

well as u said, it can put down the biggest PC's. I have a core i7 @ 3.07 GHz; 6 gigs of ram, a 5970 GFX. And it sometimes crashes when it starts. Don't click on anything when it starts, that is where the crashing part is in my opinion.

oh yea i just checked and my video settings for tf2 r pretty high. i lowered them down a bit. did not change the resolution cuz it sucks on lower resolution on my computer

it crashes very little now after the update and after i lowered the video settings but we'll have to see what happens when i play on a crazy map

ok now it almost never crashes after a bit of tweaking but if it lags and something crazy happens, like on a physics map a building crumbles, then the screen goes black and then comes back. sometimes it crashes during this period. (also i haven't tried playing on crazy maps yet like wtf_pacman or watever its called.)
