A simple response to the classic excuse "but the game says vulgar words"

It is true that the game uses bad language, but you can turn that off. You cannot turn of the the players however. We have some mature players with children, the children can watch the screen and what will they think if there parents are playing something like that. So there is no reason to be cussing. Hope this helps .-.

I like the intentions of this post, however I think the reasoning behind your argument is weak.
Overall presenting that situation is just representing a circular argument, since you are pretty much telling that person we have decided to rate the servers PG-13, even though that begs their argument that the in-game characters swear, or similarly "why not turn on the language filter [if you are afraid of children being exposed to language]?".
In my opinion, a better response to the "but the game says vulgar words" would be this:
Hearing a fictional character spew "bad" words in exclamation for the intention of furthering a sense of excitement in the game is vastly different than knowing that a real person your playing with is purposely insulting you with the sole intention of making you feel bad.

Thank you for the constructive criticism Ginga :] I'm just saying that there are children watching there parents play.

I reason it to being a clan rule, which covers several games.... Seems simple enough to type :P

My favorite is one I borrowed from Duality. "It's the easiest thing in the world NOT to type a cuss. Say anything you want. Just don't type it."

Nice :) it is simaliar to one my Dad always says; "Say it, don't spray it!" lmao

Just side note I normally mute the in game sounds when my 9 year around me. :)
No one ever said War was clean, even voices in battle. If players don't want to abide chat rules Warn, kick, ban

I've always used "it's clan rules across all servers we support regardless of the games and their respective maturity ratings". Seems to work well 95% of the time.

Not that it does much good to argue with idiots, but if a reasonable person asks for an explanation, I've traditionally just said that the voice actors were not informed of our rules, but we enjoy the game enough to tolerate their language. The players, on the other hand, should know better.

"Its our rule."

I'm not going to argue with a pub.

Gingertonic, I do agree with that. When you as an admin let an argument go beyond a one or two line response that in it's own creates server disruption and allows other to think they also should push their limits with the admins. I an not however saying kick and ban everyone. But, players allowed to disrespect admins or other players should not at all be tolerated. When people ask me why we shouldn't cuss, I simply tell them:

"Because this is an eGO server and that is an eGO rule, also we try our best to promote player respect so that everyone playing here can have a good time! So please just watch the language and have fun!"

Another way to say this but with an image

The problem is... when you start to argue with a pub, then you got like 4 or more pubs arguing the same thing... "this is a mature game!", "you don't swear?", "what, this is a Christian server?" you could answer something like: our server, our rules, take it or leave it (this is a bit rude I know but... for me... it works a lot, the pub calms down and you even get a sorry from time to time :thumbup1:), so try to be nice (you want the pubs come back to the server, because they feel good having an admin taking care of the server. And please always if you're in ventrilo you can ask another admin how to take care of this, you always will get a good way to stop this!

@Leftenent best Duality quote ever "Ok he's gone, any one else want to join him?" (the whole server was base camping in panama canal after that the pubs left the spawn point
