Bioshock film update

For those of you who heard that Bioshock was in works of going onto the big screen last year, you may be a bit disappointed to read this article: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/...lm_Was_Too_Scary_Expensive_To_Get_Funding.php

I do appreciate the fact that Verbinski was trying to keep the movie as close to the game as possible. I highly doubt that this will happen tho, if they manage to get the movie done.

You can't a make a Hard-R rated Horror film for $160 million, the film would hemorrhage money. PG-13 is where the cash is and if you want to get a film made for that kind of money...then you're gunna have to go PG-13.

Good. I would rather if they aren't going to do it right they not do it at all. Bioshock is intrinsically R rated.

It does make me a bit sad, seeing a protagonist fighting a Big Daddy while using plasmids and guns in the part of Fort Frolic where the lights turn off and Waltz of the Flowers plays would be worth admission price alone. Hopefully one day it will be done, and done right.

Yeah, I kind of figured it just wasn't going to happen. Which kind of sucks--There's supposed to be a Gears of War movie, and a Halo movie, and all these other games... all of which would've made GREAT transitions into films (with the right support).

And all of them have fallen flat, it seems.
