Help Running Minecraft

For whatever reason, my Alienware m11x R2 will not run Minecraft on anything higher than 8 fps, at best. I have the equivelent of a GeForce 335M, 4 gigs of RAM, and an i5. Any ideas as to why I can't play it?

Drivers aren't the problem. I recently updated them and double checked to make sure they were correct. Whatever the issue is, it's not that.

are you sure that it isn't on "power saver" mode or something?

If my laptop is on power saver, MC will lag up a storm

Well no, it says my intel graphics is a 335m, so I don't know one way or the other.

No my laptop's always on high performance, and I play games like SC2 on high so it's not that.

I'm gonna just go straight for suggesting your Power Supply may be damaged?

I wonder if it's possible MineCraft is taking up too much of his single core that the OS is running on too (just a thought).

Question to all, perhaps he could try a program to separate the process into its own core?

AFAIK - Minecraft can't take advantage of multiple cores/threads, so maybe having its own core would be beneficial?
I've heard success stories from doing so, but I'm not too knowledgeable about how it works, what to use, what it could affect, etc.

I have a geforce 325m in my laptop that runs the nvidia optimus suff. I had to set my drivers to run the dedicated card when it ran minecraft.

That fixed it along with updating to the newest nvidia drivers.
