So I've been doing a little free-time research on tanks and weapon systems from WWII. It started off with the WORLD OF TANKS German Maus. So i searched the Internets for this tank and found not only info on this tank, many other outlandish tanks developed and proposed by Germany.

Now id like to see the stuff you guys come up with.

German Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus...

German Landkreuzer P. 1000 Ratte

And last but definitely not the least
Landkreuzer P. 1500 Monster

So I challenge you guys to find anything larger/stranger than these.

I can't wait to see what YSD has to post ;)

Wheres the train artillery gun? If I remember right the shells for the gun where the size of Beatles

Wow, those are huge.:O
Well here's a tank called a Goliath Tank;)
These are ones the British captured.

Little misnamed though. They called it a tank but actually it was a tracked mine.

The Monster had the train artillery gun...

same 800 mm Dora/Schwerer Gustav K (E) railway gun, plus a secondary armament of two 150 mm sFH 18/1 L/30 howitzers and multiple 15 mm MG 151/15 autocannons.

'cept on a tank body...

yeah...

heres a couple of british prototypes, not in the scale of those german ones, but still got built as prototypes

First the TOG 2, designed as a solution if ww2 ended up as trench warefare like ww1, obviously it wasnt needed

and the Tortoise, the british answer to the jagdtiger, would probably have been used, but the war ended too soon for it.

LOL at the massive images

Alright I found a couple..

PA-II 'zelva' - zelva meaning "turtle", this is a funny-shaped Czech armored car
images

Bren Gun Carrier - this British transport was assigned to almost all British units to do nothing but carry Bren guns and ammo
Bren-Gun-Carrier-14.jpg

Sturmmorser Tiger - So the Germans took a stationary gun that fired shells by initial rocket blast...turned it sideways...threw it on a tank body...and then for the hell of it, powered the whole thing with a submarine motor.

Mine Exploder T1E3 (M1) 'Aunt Jemima' - I mainly just like the funny name, but this mine-clearer also looks funny.

194mm Gun GPF - the GPF in this French tank's name stood for "really big gun"

Rolls-Royce 1940 - I always thought this armored car was funny because they literally just took a (very nice) Rolls-Royce car....threw a little armored turret on it, and used them as armored cars, in every sense of the word.

SdKfz 251/16 - This German vehicle was an armored, rolling, flamethrower with a big ol' nozzle and decent range
sdkfz251_flam1.jpg

...they also used the same basic vehicle and made a mobile, high-powered spotlight lol.

M50 Ontos - Though technically made just after the war ended, the Ontos was being worked on during the last months of the war. More firepower? lol

This thread is full of win. The ambition that German engineering showed during WWII is amazing.

dude, the bren carrier was used for so much more than just carrying brens, it was used in many ways, like towing anti tank guns and carrying the ammo, as a mobile mortar, as apc's and not to mention the varients such as the "wasp" where the vickers mg/bren gun in the hull was replaced by a powerful flamethrower. just look at how many were produced "With some 113,000 built in the United Kingdom and abroad, it was the most numerous armoured fighting vehicle in history."

Just like the Jeep and Half track for Americans

Well no duh--I just threw it in there because of how often we mention Bren guns. I really didn't give a crap less about it otherwise enough to mention anything else--not that I needed to tell you that that wasn't an all-inclusive summary of it. :P :chair:

This is a proto-type the Allies were developing late in the war. They didn't figure it out for about another 2000-3000 years though. Known as a "Walking Tank." It's called the Atlas.

Nice thread. all though not as abstract from the rest of these armored vehicles, I'd like to chime in..

Jagdtiger_ussr_1945.jpg

Jagdtiger. I love this thing. Not many were built, and few were even able to see combat, so I guess it could be considered a unique tank.. oh, and it was big. First saw it & became very interested while watching the history channel recently.. some special on one of the tank battles that occurred during the battle of the bulge.
