Hey guys, I have a little bit of a problem when I play DOD now. I play the game fine, but every once in a while, I will lag out for 3 to 5 seconds at a time, get the "snow" effect and then all the ragdolls seem to spaz out and regenerate... This all happenes in the middle of gameplay and I have no idea what is happening. Have you guys ever seen this before?

everything but the "snow effect". You mean like tv tuners with no attenea snow?
when the ragdolls freakout do you hear that washing water type sound from the source engine?

.... please describe the 'snow effect' and you might as well post computer specs since im just going to ask you next time.

motion grain, i think thats what he means like before a round starts and you just spawn if i can get a pic i could show what he means

the grain effect cause thats the only thing thats snow-like
it happens along with the water sound and ragdolls being thrown around, used to get it along til a patch came out

but, the ragdolls freaking and water sound usually is a result of his computer missing packets falling behind and having to re spawn all the objects arround him and sink them with the server while in the eman time his physics engine is trying to figure it out too.

Do you notice this weird occurances with other applications such as trying to connect to website and it just fails and stalls or AIM quitting or any other type of internet loss durring these events. They can sometimes be caused by your ISP, or by an event which stresses your computer. Do you notice low FPS durring these times?
Sometimes the source engine does this when physics in combination with a high quality (and often loud) sound event occurs at the same time. That is caused by your computer not being able to handle the event, sometimes lowering sound quality settings can resolve that.
