Hello, Troops
Most of you all know retired military :thumbup1: recently I have really sick and I still recovery from the Flu bug. Last night while resting I written down something which I like to share with the unit.
A proud Moment in my Life
as a Squad leader
?Eagle Lift 2002,? Proudest Moment in Life
We started the day out as usual, lining up our trucks and loading our gear on the vehicles. About 7 a.m., we rolled out of the parking lot towards the field. We all had a pretty good idea where we were going, but the only one that really knew was the platoon sergeant. The day was very hot and sweaty; last night I didn?t get much sleep. When we arrived at our destination my platoon sergeant informed me that I was going to take a team over to another location to a rapid refueling point for another mission. This mission was going to happen around 5 p.m. that evening. Three soldiers, along with assault team and I moved out towards another location, about five miles from our base camp. After arriving at our location, we started setting up the fuel points without taking any breaks. I looked at my watch to ensure we would have everything finished by 5 p.m. After we finished, around 4:45 p.m., that evening the mission started. The helicopters came in and we refueled helicopters until late into the night, without taking any breaks. Around twelve that night the mission was completed. I finally was able to let my soldiers get some deserve rest. Early that morning around 5:30 a.m., a high-ranking general from the unit that we supported came to our tent and congratulated my soldiers and myself. He informed us that without out rapid refueling of the 150 helicopters, many of America soldiers would have died without having air support. We played a key role in capturing and taking out the terrorists at Tiger Mountain, which lead to the success of the mission. After returning to home base, my soldiers and I received medals for our job performance from that mission; ?Eagle Lift 2002? was a proud moment in my life as a soldier and leader.
