Hey guys, anyone have any tips on how to dominate with the K98 or Garand consistantly?. Some days I can just own but then suck the next, I've seen others just get insane amount of kills to the point where you think he might be hacking but thats just how great they are. If anyone out there knows some tips please let me know.

Fry's riflin' tips:

1. Don't ironsight
2. Strafe in and out of cover
3. Pause just long enough to take a quick shot
4. For the Garand, aim for the base of the neck
5. For the K98, aim for the chest

Thats what I do. Its all about your speed and quickness (which is why you strafe and shouldn't ironsight), after that, its all about how quickly you can line someone up and take them out.

Hey wolfhound, I feel the same way about people that are god lilke with rifles. I really don't have any tips on the garand. For the K98 I keep my mouse sensitivity at 5, stand still when I go to shoot, and just try to keep my movements as smooth as possible. Other than that I dont really know of any tips, but so far I have days that I'm untouchable with K98 and times I just break even on my kpd.

Yup ^^ what Fry said. Speed is essential, and do not ironsight. It just slows you down and makes you an easy target.

i like the first one, because its so true. DON'T IRONSITE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! for me, i have a tiny little reticule, and that helps me (at least psychologically). However, i can't use the Garand well, so all those are with my K98

Indeed what Fry said, don't stop moving with the rifle. A rifleman shouldn't be standing still for longer that half a second. And remember to keep shooting, don't choke because the enemy is shooting at you with an automatic from close distance, you can still win that one!

Also, for both rifles --- "head and chest" might seem like a good thing to aim for, but there's a simple reason --- especially with the K98, NOT to aim directly for the chest.

When a player is holding a gun (as they...tend to do), their arms are more than likely covering a large portion of their chest. Look for openings --- my favorite, if I can't get a head shot? Right below their shoulder underneath their arm in the side of the ribcage. Back is always nice, too, as their arms are not covering that part of their "chest". Try not to go for the stomach because that isn't always a 1 hit kill with the 98.

a quick kneel for the k98 usually kills them, at least for me, but garand, im terrible XD

Hey wolfhound. There are two things I do. One is only use the ironsight when getting a feel for how the gun shoots. Then, remember that and never expect it again. Second, I just start shooting normally, strafing while shooting and I try to see where my bullets are hitting. That way you can try to compensate for it. I tend to naturally do this and I imagine that quite a few people do as well. Good luck and start pwning.

Fry speaketh Truf.

The only time I ever ironsight is when I'm "headhunting". In other words, some dude just has his head or a tiny bit of his body sticking out. But for all practical intents and purposes, just use the reticule.

GARAND SIGHT > k98 SIGHT

z0mg I used ironsight with k98 and missed 4 times with plenty of time to aim. LIke wtf that thing is a piece of junk =/. The tiny triangle. Is it the point where the bullet hits or more towards the bottom

Definitely do what Fry said. Try and move around constantly, and dont pause long enough for them to get off a shot. Even if they may stink with the rifle, there are the completely random and lucky shots that nail you in the face if you pause to long. Always stay on your feet and move around.

Keep moving, don't stop at one place.
Unless you asking for direction, LOL, jk.

I find the ironsight of the kar handy when firing from the window below the top of the church in ava.Its probably the only place i will use it as half the time when they come around the corner they stop and look up so you get a chance to get a good shot in on them.

Or you could get out of practice and go to FPSBanana. One author, Dark Elfa, makes exceptionally useful iron sights for both rifles. Comes with sounds too. But I actually USE the ironsights.

I'm pretty much always in Avalanche. so I personally never use the rifles unless it's for long range (which again in Ava. there is almost zero long range) and i normally won't iron sight either, unless there is a tiny portion sticking out and they haven't realized it yet.

if your on the move everyone is right iron sights suck but i disagree if your trying to hold or staying back for a few seconds to cover someone or an area yea it takes to long to pull them up but to drop them its pretty quick and you run like a bat outta hell....the IRON SIGHTS are ESSENTIAL to my success with the garand and no1 will ever change my mind to that

ps:k98=newb cannon
